| My god. Are we sure Zardes isn’t actually one of the Guyana forwards guest playing on the USMNT? |
No, Altidore isn't a world class striker, but he is a CONCACAF class striker...he's scored tons of goals against our local competition. And, unfortunately, he's still the best striker we have. |
| people watch this shit show? |
Dude scored a facer last night tho |
People come into this forum to ask if people watched? |

Here's how we look against a mediocre opponent. Player selection matters.

Altidore is terrible on an international level. At one time looked more like a linebacker than a striker. I can't believe the US doesn't have a single person that can play better than him. |
He's got 41 goals in 111 appearances for the National team, so let's stop with this "terrible" idiocy. He's been a solid striker for the US for a while, and yes, he's not a top international star, but he's done very well against CONCACAF teams. But yes, it's really, really sad that we don't have anyone better then him at the moment. We have MANY people better than Zardes...I'll never understand him starting. |

Altidore has scored more USMNT goals than:
- Brian McBride - Roy Wegerle - Eric Wynalda - Earnie Stewart |
And you would pick him over any of those? |
He only scored 4 goals for the USMNT in the last 3 years. |
He is the best we have.... |
That's debatable, but Altidore won't be the best in 2022, when it matters. Shouldn't a meaningless, cupcake CONCACAF tournament be used to test and develop young players? Wouldn't players like Weah, Sargent,Soto, Mendez, Dest, Llanez benefit from going to the tournament even as off the bench players? |
No we need to give a go showing or everyone gets fired. |
| So either Berhalter thinks Zardes > Altidore, or Altidore is more unfit than we thought, which only makes the decision to leave Sargent home more baffling. Part of me is almost hoping we don’t get out of this group so we can fire Gregg and hire a proper coach, hopefully someone not related to USSF leadership. I’m still gonna root for them, still love our national team, but this is completely uninspiring. |
