Was my BIL rude?

Even my sister commented that the man looked uncomfortable when BIL said that.

Anyway, pretty much every time I see BIL there is some sort of issue like this.

OP, so sorry that your BIL is a rude and uncaring person. Next time he pulls something like this, you should just ask him in front of everyone - "Why would you say something so HURTFUL?" Don't use the word "Rude" because then he can say that he is just joking, use the word "Hurtful". It shuts up rude people.

Yes, you know he was. Usually such snappy comments are used by insecure people. But, I am curious, is your BIL picture perfect, looks just like 15 or so years ago? I ask because men can be the worst hypocrites when it comes to women's weight. They think they are a gift to women and their beer bellies do not count.

Of course he's rude. Nobody disputes that.

Question is, what do you do about it? Or do you even do anything about it? Most people are saying, don't give him too much mental energy. He's not worth it.

I'm not really insecure. But I don't think it's polite to do. It's rude. Even if I was insecure, he was trying to make a job about my weight.

Or you could be over thinking this... seriously, it may be all in your head.

Seriously. My BIL wouldn't have it together enough to do something as mean as that on the fly. I can't even imagine a normal person aiming for the pettiness you are ascribing to him.

Most people spend much less time thinking about us than we think they do.

Just hang with your sister when she's not around BIL. Unfortunately when you marry an a-hole it limits your other relationships.

That's the consequence for your sister and you.

Except that his own wife admitted I am correct.

I knew it! Jerk.

This must be a troll. Trolls respond to an excess number of multiple posters, like it’s a text chat, instead of letting the thread roll out naturally.

Agree. Clearly her goal is stoking an argument, not actually getting advice to solve a problem.

Size 12 or 14 for a 44 yr old woman is not fat or overweight

Depends on height and body type, obviously. Age has little to do with it.

So then why on earth are you asking us?

No, your BIL was not rude to you at all.
