DP Why is ok to insult women? I wish the US president was more feminine than he wouldn't be such an Asshole.

Canada is boring. Hardly innovative and doesn’t have that American desire for exceptionalism. Very few products or really anything invented or produced in Canada besides oil. Anyone who wants to DO something has to leave.

Have you been to a Canadian city lately? Innovative design and lots of interesting community actions/activities. Strong focus on arts/film. Not everything is about new products.

Not in years. Canada is unremarkable. Canada doesn’t have a single thing the US doesn’t have.
they have paid maternity leave, lower infant mortality rates

Yes, we do. "Code White." We have schools go into Safe Mode... nobody in or out. That's for a threat outside the school.

DH is a teacher. Two rival gangs try to recruit in the school.

Admittedly we don't have anywhere near the issues, but it has happened and our kids practice for it.

I doubt the gun issues here are broadcast in the U.S. Small potatoes, right?

We do have drug issues, and crimes that go with it. But a much smaller population = less problems.

They came so they no longer would have to buy their milk in bags.

We don't all buy milk in bags.

A beautiful country. The people there are so kind. I have been there about 7 times, coast to coast, and have had nothing but good experiences.

Canada Inventions

We have also given you many celebrities and famous folks (some more talented than others!).

We have have a healthcare system and laws that are far more progressive.

My kids know nothing about school violence. Kids in inner city schools would know more but in suburban neighborhoods. They do a Safe Schools drill twice a year (lock down) but they don't really get why they do it. Its like a fire drill to them.

I buy my milk in bags!

Toronto is the Harvard, not McGill.

My cousin was just here for a week. They call him "Mr. Dress-Up"

Hah, no.
The only people who would believe that are the Chinese.

My DD was accepted to Toronto, McGill and UBC. Seriously considering Toronto. Toronto is widely know as the top university in Canada. I was chatting with a McGill grad last week and he referred to Toronto as the Harvard of Canada.

Note that no one calls Harvard "The Toronto of the US"

What's your point? I don't think anyone has suggested Toronto is more prestigious than Harvard. It is the most prestigious in Canada and is almost half the cost of an equivalent education in the US. I can send my kid to USC for $70K or Toronto for $40K. A major bonus is that the people in Canada are much nicer than the people in the US, particularly nicer than my neighbors in Bethesda

Don't kid yourself, the only degree I've seen that hold some semblance of weight here is from McGill and even then it's only comparable to a 40-50 US school.
The other "top flight" Canadian schools are thrown out with the rest of Podunk State U.[/quote

What is a 40/50 US school? I'm certain no one from the US who was admitted to Toronto, McGill or UBC failed at their studies in the US. Get a grip.

Eh I'd much rather live in the US than in Canada, even with all of the US's problems.

I have absolutely no desire to live in Canada.
