How many *different* fruits and vegetables does your kid eat per week?

Fruits - 4-7 depending on the season
Vegetables - 0 except what I hide in smoothies

What a great exercise! I am going to try to get to 25 next week!

okay I just counted, I am at 18 different things with just the deliveries. A couple of things are herbs though. I think herbs should count. Hmmm

OP, I think it is a great recommendation from your mom. I am the one with fruit and vegetables from local farms that get delivered in boxes. I think this is a great goal and actually pretty attainable, at least where I live.

I have one 6yo

Veggies in an average week: tomoatoes, baby carrots, broccoli, spinach
Fruit in an average week: apples, blueberries, strawberries, grapes ( she also takes dried mango, raisins, craisins to school as part of snack)

She does eat more than that but not regularly, like she likes Pesto Zoodles but we only have those about once a month. If I make chicken noodle soup I put celery in it, but thats about once every 2 weeks.

We have a 3 year old. I'm trying to expand the vegetables we eat but I also only like certain things.

Tomatoes : a favorite.
Cucumbers
Radishes
Peas
Cabbage
Broccoli
Carrots
Avocado
Zucchini
Eggplant
Arugula
Apples
Orange
Plum
Pear
Banana
Blueberries
Mango
Melon
Grapes
Strawberries
Blackberries

We don't do all fruit in one week, depends on season and sale, but she has a couple apples a day every day. My kid has never tried a fruit she didn't like.

Oranges, bananas, grapes, cantaloupe, Strawberries, apples, watermelon.

Broccoli, green beans, carrots, bok choy, bean sprouts, gai lan, lettuce.

These are on rotation every week in our house. I didn't include starchy vegetables like, potatoes, daikon, green peas. I'm not trying to meet 25 per week!

Ha, no! The only vegetables they eat are broccoli, zucchini, corn, carrots, sweet potato, tomatoes, and then one also eats spinach and cauliflower. Fruits they eat every week are apples, bananas, grapes, rasberries, blueberries. A bunch more are eaten less frequently. In the summer we get much more fruit variety but vegetables are limited year round.

Oh and one eats avocado and the other eats it only in guacamole form.

As long as we rotate and DS eats 3 different fruits and veg a day I am fine. We have a rotation of about 15 different fruits and veg that he eats over the course of the week. I use the different colors approach instead of a number. The main thing is to get 5 servings a day with some variety thrown in.

Where do you shop? I don't shop at Whole Foods and I don't always buy organic so that helps. Aldi is a good option. I also try to buy fruit that's on sale so we usually have apples, oranges in the winter and bananas. Then I get fruit on sale. Spinach I get a big tub for $4 and use that all week. I also buy frozen vegetables like peas or frozen spinach.

I cannot stand frozen vegetables. That's all my mother ever made and I despise them. I sometimes think to buy frozen fruit. I guess I just don't make much money (teacher and a single parent) and fresh fruit and vegetables are expensive where ever you buy them.
