Sitter put the kids to be early. Would you be upset?

If the kids did go to sleep then they were tired and the sitter made the right call by putting them to bed.

If you have cameras, you must tell the person that you have live monitoring, just FYI.

I likely would not use her again unless my kids were just tired earlier & actually requested to go to sleep early.

It all would depend on the circumstances involved.

No, I wouldn't, even though I understand from your post that you were annoyed the kids woke you up earlier?

You need to be clear in your communication: bedtime is at 8pm.

It’s sketchy. She was only there 4 hours and she put them to bed an hour early? And she didn’t mention it? She knew about the camera but didn’t know it would alert you. I wouldn’t hire her again.

+1. If they both fell asleep 1 hour earlier than normal, I might reconsider their current bedtime.

This is really something only a parent would get or see as a problem. If it’s important to you that they go to bed no earlier than 8 you should say that. Otherwise most sitters are going to see “8pm bedtime” as a hard line with earlier-the-better conditions.

As an occasional sitter myself - THIS.

Even if you think she shouldn't have done this, how is it sketchy? She likely wasn't concerned about the cameras because she was doing the right thing and had nothing to hide. You are acting like she beat the kids in full view of a camera.

What time do your kids wake up normally?

I think what you are really upset about is that you feel she shorted you an hours worth of work/babysitting.

Get rid of the cameras. If it is not the bedtime, it is going to be something else.

I'm a mother, and I babysat all the way through graduate school so feel like I have a good perspective.

You are overreacting. If parents told me (again, a full blown adult who was only a few years away from having kids myself) that bedtime was 8, I would absolutely think that they needed to be down with pajamas on and teeth brushed by 7:15 at the latest.

This.

Agree. 8 sounds way too late. If they actually went to sleep at 7, then they were tired and she did the right thing.

Nah, she is mad that she didn't get to sleep in. Selfish. When my kids were that age 7pm was bed time, 6pm start of routine.
You should be aware that these cams can be and are intercepted all the time by perverts. And there is no law against interception. That baby sitter might be watched by perverts all the time.
