I liked Meghan's speech. It was personal yet public. Her grief was obvious but not out of control. This was political because John McCain was political. My parents knew him and based on their discussion of McCain, the funeral was a perfect reflection of him. It also captured the nightmare of our current political arena. You do know that there were memes created by the alt-right of Meghan bending over her father's casket with a gun aimed at her, right? Her husband is furious and has publicly called out Twitter for not removing them.

There’s way worse out there depicting Trums wife and kids. Where’s your outrage for that?

DP. I haven't seen any that are worse than what's been described. Although, it's hard to get worse than that. Alt-right are monsters.

Kathy griffin holding his severed head is not worse?

I think Trump’s psychotic pursuit of Hillary is worse than that.

No. It's clearly fake and not making a mockery of anyone's grief.

How do you know it was the alt-right? Meghan is a conservative. And, why didn't twitter remove it sooner?

And, while you are at it, please tell me why twitter didn't remove the tweet about Dana Loesch's children needing to be killed right away? That stayed up for some time, as well.

I cannot stand them but they were INVITED BY THE MCCAIN FAMILY.

They’ll be behind bars soon enough.

Every element of this funeral was personally scripted by McCain, including the overarching messages of each of the speakers. Part of this was to remind Americans what the soul of our country is, and to essentially troll Jared and Ivanka and shame them publicly for what they are enabling and facilitating.

Bravo Maverick.

Thank you President Obama. Oh,

This is a political funeral for the political class to talk about how great they all are. If you think them indulging each other is going to bring Americans together again I’d disagree.

This is the attitude that has created the mess we are in. There are lots of people in public service who are good, decent people who try their best to do good and devote their lives to serving a greater good. This is certainly true of most people in military service and is also true of most government employees and many of our political leaders.
Since 2008 we have seen an increase in the number of people who question the motivation and ethics of public servants and where has that led us - a new breed of self interested and corrupt politicians. They erode our faith in the institutions and norms that bind us and keep our country strong and unified. It is why we have so many venal people entering the federal government as political appointees who have no respect for their agency missions or for the people who have devoted their adult lives to serving this wonderful country

100% agree with above. No, politicians are not perfect, regardless of party. And neither is the PP. But most are honest public servants.

Sure.

But America is united: against Trump and the criminal GOP.

Your America maybe. But not the actual America.

Exactly. The statement: "America united: against Trump and the criminal GOP" shows the ignorance of some people. It may be the dumbest statement I have read on DCUM and that is saying something.

The one you’re complaining about is clearly fake as well. Can’t have it both ways, this fake one is fine, but this fake one is not. Hypocrite.

"John McCain's funeral service was a council of war. Just as he wanted it to be."

It is not clearly fake. That is a real human hand pointing a real gun at McCain, mocking her grief and taunting her as she sobs over her father's casket. Even Fox News called it sick.

Griffin is holding a doll's head. That is not having it both ways. What is wrong with you?

They are both awful. McCain's is worse. Hands down.
But, I've seen no evidence of who posted it other than PP blaming it on alt-right. I think it could just as likely have been alt-left.

Kissinger was dignified and statesman like. Even Bush made me nostalgic for a kinder time. Obama's speech was good, but not extraordinary, especially for such a fine speaker. I can't believe Ivanka and Jared showed up; at least they looked appropriately humbled by the many barbs aimed at her father. It was a wonderful tribute.
