I'd go for GDS and try for a school that goes through 12 - three years will go by really quickly if you choose a school that only goes through 8, and, you will start looking at the process of applying for high schools only one year after arriving.....

I have to agree with the pp. Consider the position your child will be in during the HS app process of a K-8 school with the person who helps in placement. It might be hard to fully advocate for your child given they might not know him or her as well as the other kids. Also, their advice about where to apply to HS may not be fully on target.

And quite frankly, no one wants to go through the apps process more than needed.
