Sorry, but this is weird.

Op again. Why is this weird if it makes them happy?
So you think a married couple in their 40's having a bed full of stuffed animals is typical? Weird means strange or unusual, it has nothing to do with happiness.

One of my girlfriends husbands takes a small stuffed animal with him on every trip. This was before they had kids.

I am sorry, PP but that is rather creepy.

My 12 yo is the modern day version of Linus. Except when "others" are in our home - then he tucks it under his pillow. But if he's just hanging out here - in his room, the family room or the game room, it's probably across his shoulders. That thing is WELL LOVED. No baby talk or personalizing it, it's a blanket but it's his security item.

My sister still has hers (packed away now) and she's 40. She took it on an overnight trip during high school.

Rising 5th grader with a bed full stuff animals. When we travel he takes two with him, his pillow pet and the one that was in the NICU with him.

I went downstairs a few weeks ago and my 11 year old DD had her dolls lined up on the couch to watch tv with her.
I didn't say anything, just turned around and walked back up the stairs.
My older DD has a worn out animal she has had for 13 years she sleeps with every night, and brought with her for her summer vacation.

These posts have made me feel so much better about how much my 9 yo and 12 yo love their stuffies.

I actually know someone like p(PP) in my family. Very functional and sensible people. The DH have stuffed animals that his mom made for him before she died in his childhood. He has the majority of them in the bedroom. Some in the car and one on his office desk. No one asks him about it. He is very normal but he needs his comfort items or lucky charm, I think. The wife has a tattered t-shirt that she keeps with her and will wear occasionally at home when she is feeling in need of comfort.

Knowing someone in real life who does that has made me realize that it is not creepy. If they are good and loving people how does it matter. They have capacity for loving others and they also have great empathy for others. This is not someone who will be a cold blooded killer. That's for sure!

Wow! OP, that is very sweet. Your son is normal.

13-year-old DD sleeps with a stuffed lamb.
16-year-old DS, a senior in HS! has a stuffed animal in his backpack. He never gets it out, but likes the security.

Perfectly normal and healthy, OP!

Agreed!

My 8yo has started a habit--he gets a stuffed animal from every new city he visits. I've taken to indulging this, which means I pick up a stuffed animal for him whenever I travel.

Awww. This is one of the nice threads I've read on here in awhile. OP, your son sounds very sweet. Kudos for letting him just enjoy being a kid!
