Is Development Academy 4x a Week Practice a Real Requirement?

Anonymous
Panic? Who are you talking to and about what?

It can't be me. I'm not at FCV this year, and unfortunately have paid my fees. We are stuck.

BUT, I heard FCV has a new TD, I know they recruited some talent, and YES, I will ask questions during the course of the year.

I never had before because they were not a club I would have considered.

SOOOO, for an FCV parent in the DA, is it 4 full days of practice? Does it ever vary? (eg futsal, fitness, lite days). I would love to know more about the mechanics of the program.

Thanx!!

Lol!! Pretty funny!

Still, I'd like to know about FCV. I'm not sure we made the right decision this year.

Everyone does 4 days a week. Why not let the season start before you begin to panic?

Washington Spirit Maryland did not from December through June last year.

And that was last year. Why not see how this year transpires? Perhaps ask these questions of your TD?

I know some of the boys DAs do futsal as one of the 4 days. Does FCV do anything like that?

No, FCV DA does not do Futsal one day a week. They have a Futsal program for the club that runs in conjunction but the DA does not take part.

The boys DA actually runs a futsal tourney for the younger age groups in the winter so that is why some local boys DA's supplement the fourth day with futsal.

Many people asked the TD last year and were told it was temporary. It went on from Fecembrr to June. TD sent an email describing only 3 days a week for the Fall. Done with asking TD. Considering other options.

Well, to be fair, December to June is temporary.

Again, ask the TD. Find out what the issue last season was. If you want to be released from the club you would need to know this as reason for leaving anyways. You can't just walk over to FCV and join as there are league rules that prohibit that. The DA season has officially started and you would need consent from both TD's for you to change DA clubs now.

So no 1 day a week futsal or anything like that. Thanx!

I personally like how some of the boys' DAs do it. I wish we didn't separate boys and girls until maybe like middle school or later.

And again, only the younger boys DA age groups actually compete in futsal.

Long before it was a boys DA program, some clubs used to do it.

I know how it works. Are you a parent or with the Spirit organization?

Neither, just saying you have a better argument to leave the club and move to another DA IF the fall season mirrors the spring season. You seem to be burning the bridge before you have even crossed it.

If you are not getting 4 practices this fall you have good reason to be upset and try and leave. BUT if you do get 4 practices a week this season and for the rest of the year your time to walk away from the club based on the Spring season shortcomings was at the end of last season not at the beginning of the new season.
