Is Development Academy 4x a Week Practice a Real Requirement?

Since your DD clearly isn't on Spirit VA, why do you care?

The trolling on this site is insane. So much raw sewage from parents who would be better served living their own lives instead of their child's. Of anything that is wrong with soccer in the US, the parents rank right up at the top in many cases.

No, that is incorrect. If they played 60+ minutes, it is a light practice. If they didn't, it is a full practice + fitness. Sometimes, the non-starters play in ascrimmage.

Lol you people crack me up! Yes, on the men's side there is much work to do, but on the women's side (since we were talking Spirit, not DC United) the US reigns supreme and has for quite some time. Go back to your refined European club de jour thread so you can discuss your rec level daughter's deep understanding of the nuances of the game.

You are naive and uninformed of the state of women's soccer globally. The rest of the world either has caught up or will soon while you thump your chest. Meanwhile the rest of the world is catching up, while we pat ourselves on the back.

It always has been and will be in the fall 4x a week.

Hey listen coach...parents pay the bills and should demand the club deliver on what they are promised.

Then leave. It always amazes me how people continue to stay at places they can’t stop complaining about.

+1000. These coaches and clubs have no right to get offended if we hold them accountable.

The person who asked this question was not on Spirit VA and, as noted by several others, Spirit VA holds 4 practices a week and did so last year. So, the people who should actually care are getting their moneys worth. The PP also spread a false rumor that there weren't 4 practices last year.

Frankly, it shouldn't matter to someone who has not been with and will not be with the organization for the upcoming year, other than to try to spread around mud.

I will eventually, coach. But like a fool, I believed the promises that it would be different, and paid my nonrefundable money. So yes, shame on me.

Unfortunately, we did too, and we are in the same boat. Don't even get me started on the pathetic friendlies. They are a complete waste of time and look like a lack of confidence on the part of the coaching staff that they don't challenge the players with better.

It’s a Black-ball buddy system. F@ck ‘em. I have more experience than 90% of the coaches I paid in the past to coach my kids. Adult leagues now and private training. Better off and not traveling all over the place on weekends. U14.

Thanks for the serious answer. It seems Spirit Virginia takes the DA obligation more seriously than Spirit Maryland. So, someone else asked why would anyone not in the club this year care? Well, if use your brain before running your mouth, you'd probably figure it out. I am not going to do it for you.

Oh, yet another resident dcum forum genius. Your purpose is crystal clear with all the anti-Spirit vitriol posted here. Since you are so interested in Spirit, why don't you come to the next regular practice so we can have a full and lively discussion.

Honestly, on this anonymous forum, you can't possibly tell who is who. Did it never occur to you that they may be asking because they are interested in the club? Not every question has a hidden agenda.

And if we are confident in Spirit as a good club choice, we don't need to be so defensive.

True, although asking the question in this environment, after all that had already been said, with a false rumor sprinkled in is a very odd way to express interest.

That said, the invitation still stands to join us at practice where he/she can learn quite a bit more. Let me know which year your DD plays for and maybe we can chat with he/she and the Spirit staff, so they have a much better and more accurate understanding of the program than is available on this board.
