Is it weird for a 41 year old to date a 25 year old?

Why do you care about other couples. I'd seriously never date a woman my age unless she was really exceptional.

Why would you never date a woman your age?

I’m very “to each their own”, but this give me the creeps; when they married she was 19, and disturbingly close to high school graduation. Yes, it’s technically legal, but it seems wrong.

Look at the pics of 41 year old actor Adrien Grenier of Entourage and his 25 year old GF.

Anyone else think it looks a little creepy for a man that age to date such a young woman? I know this is par for the course in Hollywood, but what about IRL?

I had zero interest in 40 year old men in my 20s. 40 year olds were the dads of kids I babysat in my teens. I had zero in common with them. And now as a 40 something married to a 40 something, I could not imagine my DH dating a young woman slightly older than our own college-age sitters.

Anyone have thoughts on this?

This pairing wouldn't even make you bat an eye in Los Angeles. I recall one teacher at my child's L.A. high school telling me that she currently had a certain student in her class, whose half-siblings she had also taught more than 23 years earlier. Same dad, third marriage - to a much younger woman.

He's 25 years older. That's a big age difference, though I think she was a bit older. It makes a difference when the younger person is 30+.

Some women want/need a dad figure.

And a 39 year old Seinfeld with his 17 year old girlfriend, not creepy at all. They're all scumbags as the world is recently finding out.

Seriously? We’re not all scumbags. Much the same as women are not all mean, spitefull and manipulative.

There are lots of good people out there - you just won’t find them in the news.

Dating anyone, whatever the age difference, is not weird. Marrying a much older man is a very bad deal for a younger woman if both are ordinary people. Money and power compensates some of the inconveniences, though - that is, if a woman is content with a union of unequals.

Yes seriously. I was referring to the entertainers in the news of late. This thread seems to have moved recently from the Entertainment thread.

Don't conflate Seinfeld dating a 17-year-old with Grenier dating a 25-year-old. Or Michael Douglas dating a pushing-30-year-old. The former is an order of magnitude weirder than the latter two.

Not scumbags. Just people in need of a "mom" or "dad" figure in their lives.

She seems to have a good job (so probably pretty mature) and isn’t just a Hollywood hanger on. Like a PP said it depends on the individuals involved.

Look at what Chloe Dykstra just wrote about her relationship with Chris Hardwick. Similar age difference and abusive relationship.

You mean like Catherine the Great?

If he's dating her because he finds her attractive, that's one thing. If he's dating her because he senses that she is someone who he can totally dominate and control, then that's quite different.
