What do you enjoy most about teaching?

I teach ESOL and I love having a conversation with my students as I remember how they couldn't do that at the beginning of the year. Makes me smile just thinking about it.

I work with very young students who, for the most part, are very endearing. They are very hard workers and puts a lot of effort into completing their assignments. They get excited about simple stuff. When I get a good batch of students, my day just flies by.

Now, the administration, especially our bully of a principal and his ridiculous, destructive directives, on the other hand, make me want to quit on a regular basis.

There was once a fcps administrator about eight years ago who in fact drove a high school student to suicide bucause he bought a dime bag of oregano at school. Its that karma thing again. Some people feel they need viciouslh fight in almost mortal compention to become administrators. They fight hard and sometimes dirty to succeed and succeed they do. Unfortunately for themselves and others they lose their soul in the process.

They fought hard and ruthlessly to succeed and it felt GOOD. But once youve succeeded professionally by intimidating and crushing people beyond recognition, how to you continue to feed that hunger when you no longer need to climb that ladder.

This is where karma enters the picture. Your original goal was to fight to be successful and to crush anyone who stood in your way. Once you would attain success you could be a gracious person. The problem is that somewhere along the line crushing people felt powerful and it felt good. The power became more important than being a fair, patient, and gracious leader.

This woman eventually drove a child to suicide over a dime bag of oregano and it ended her career.
