Trying for a girl (i know, ridiculous)

I think the whole thing is entirely unproven and within the statistical margin of error.

So we can’t say one aspect is more important than any other (diet, timing, sex position, etc).

Could be any. Or none.

I literally don’t know anyone like that.

I did Shettles plus upped calcium supplements for my second, had a girl. Could have been entirely coincidental, of course. May have developed kidney stones from all the extra calcium. so don't recommend that part.

So, if you want to increase your chances of a girl...have sex 4 days before you ovulate. I knew my third was a girl because i was charting to get pregnant and bummed that my husband was going out of town on business trip over ovulation. He left 4 days before. As soon as I got pregnant - I knew it was a girl. Worked for my SIL too. Defintely not fool proof but can't tilt the odds.

Also, a slightly higher number of babies conceived via ICSI during IVF are female because again - slower girl sperm are easier to catch

This is a good book for learning how to conceive in general. There's also the theory that perceived sperm competition can actually increase your overall sperm count.

You certainly are fixated on this topic.

There’s a 50-50 chance. No methods work. If you happened to get whichever sex you were trying for, it was just luck.

We had sex saturday & sunday. My ovulation test today gave me a smiley face. Should we not have sex today since sat/sun were in the 2-4 days before ovulation and that's the old wives tale?

Did anyone have a girl with an ovulation test? If so, when did you have sex?

Thanks. I'm sure its silly and we get what we get and dont get upset!

Just curious does your husband have any girl relatives in his family ( besides his mom?)

It's genetic based on whether the father has more boy or girl siblings. Also, many families tend to have all kids of the same gender (of course not all of them).

The theory involves trying to control which sperm your body is more receptive to. Silly you.

+1. Duh.

Why can’t you wrap your head around the idea that someone can love their children and want another child of a different gender? This person doesn’t want one girl and no boys. She wants her two sons and a daughter. My MIL was the same way. Just because you don’t have the empathy/imagination to understand someone else’s experience doesn’t mean it’s not valid. Jeez.
