Wait - for your home school? Wouldn't your kid just go to that school anyway?

Yes, he will be going to that school anyway (Sligo Creek) but there are two tracks, French Immersion, and the Regular Academic (what they call they the Academy). We applied for the French Immersion at our home school....

I think we have a shot?

Depends on the school - which one?

Maryvale

We got into Maryvale with a number in the low 30s, but it was the week before school started and, since by that point my daughter was so excited about her home school, we declined.

Same! DD was #31 (I think) and I was contacted about a week before school started. I think at that point they moved through the list quickly because people weren't willing to disrupt plans that were already laid out for aftercare, etc. I know a student at Maryvale who was offered a spot 6 weeks into the school year, but I don't know his waitlist number.

We are #11 at Bayard Rustin and above 50 for all others (entered all lotteries because why not?). Of course BR is brand new, not at all familiar with the school other than new facility would be nice.

??? What is Bayard Rustin and why isn't it on this list?

Bayard Rustin is the new name for the new RM#5 school, where the College Gardens program is relocating.

We tried for Immersion into K last year didn’t get in. Got accepted today for grade 1 into Rock Creek Forest Spanish. I hope our child can overcome the gap from not being in immersion during K previously.

Wow that's great - congrats! You'll be fine - our friends got in mid-year during first grade and 16 months later they are doing great.

What are the chances of getting off the wait list (mid twenties) for first grade[b] slot?

Yikes, none are convenient to us in ES. that's too bad.

Depends on the school. The first grade waitlist for RCF usually does not go beyond 15, some years not even 10. Burnt Mills has gone deeper into the waitlist in past years, but that will likely change now that they are full immersion and will soon offer non-local transportation.
