None of them are able to work, yet they have to pay rent (move to Houston), pay for food, cable, etc. I'll admit none of them are living high on the hog - pardon the pun - but where do they get their money?

Oh, yes they are. Only one has been brave enough to mention it, but many of the subjects on this show make a living doing feeder porn. Zsalynn, one of the first subjects, met her husband as part of a BBW group where men who fetishize ultra obese women pay their way. When she started to lose weight, he lost interest and they divorced.

Other than that, I'm sure many are also legitimately receiving disability payments. They may have done it to themselves, but being too fat to move from your bed is disabled, and the resulting health issues would make it hard to find a typical job.

I really liked Zsalynn. She had great strength to do it in the face of such backlash from her husband. Hope she continues to do well.

Yes, she was definitely more mobile than many on the show. Admirable.

I don't understand how the opener says the chances of long term surgery success are 5% but they are all still alive. He also tells them all how they are going to die in a few years.

Sometimes genes are so unfair, and it makes me really angry to see 40+ year olds who weigh 600, 700, 800+ lbs continue to live... and know people younger than that who died from a freak cell/cancer mutation, unrelated to lifestyle.

success of surgery refers to them losing and maintaining normal weight. remaining alive - I don't think anyone knows the odds of this. as i understand very few of those people have died so far.

No, the genetic unfairness makes me angry. I say that as someone who was a child caretaker of a parent that died from cancer at 42.

Watched this episode today; she’s a piece of work. She sounded high.

Who pays for these people to get “treatment”? All these hospital stays can’t be cheap. Seems crazy to waste so much money on people like her who really have no desire to change.

The show pays. Zsalynn was on a show before about the Austin BBW community and was considering going on “a new show that would cover the costs of weight loss surgery.” My guess is that show was My 600lb Life.

I never comment about weight because dcum hates fat women. I am 500+ lbs and work. I've always worked and I have never been on any type of assistance. All super fats aren't dependent on welfare/others.

Are you a woman? Do you plan on getting surgery? Where do you work? I think the people on this show actually weigh much more than you, and would not be able to get to work every day.

Yes, no. I have a health issue unrelated to my weight that doesn't make me a candidate for the surgery. I am a lactation consultant.

The people on this show are 500-700lbs. Some of them have mobility and others do not. PP's experience is just as valid as theirs, and "500+ lbs" is in the range of show candidates. As she said, not all super fats are takers.
