If teachers strike nationally, could they bring the NRA to its knees?

Please not this group again. Enough with the vaginas - it's become a laughingstock.

You are sure bothered by those vaginas. Seems like they were pretty effective if you’re still triggered by them today.

VAGINA!

I think that teachers can teach kids that the gun culture that families have is akin to mass murders. That if you vote for the NRA, you vote for killing kids. And they can teach our kids that, without ever getting fired-- because teachers are smart and they have very powerful unions.

So, for every drill, they can say as long as we have people that own guns in this area, we have to be careful. We have to be careful because guns can be in the hands of the wrong people, and we have to protect ourselves. And even good people can turn to bad people, because sometimes life is out of control. And when those good people turn into bad people, and have guns, we can't tell the difference between the two and that's why we have to have drills, because the bad people have guns and want to hurt as many people as possible.

I think that if every teacher starts teaching that, teaches the shame of gun culture, we may have a chance.

I'm an educator and do not own a gun. You seriously think it's okay for teachers to teach their values at school? I assume you'll think it's okay if we teach the shame of abortions that end potential lives of their little sisters and brothers?

Two teacher household here and we agree. We don’t own guns but have no problem with people who do. The PP’s suggestion is ridiculous.

Have any of you even been to red states? All my teachers in school would sooner have striked in SUPPORT of gun rights.

That's because northern states are so much safer. Guns aren't allowed there, and criminals ("mere children") know not to use the guns they've quietly acquired.

And this is why we will never find a solution. Take your head out of your ass and suggest something that doesn’t make rightful gun owners into criminals and murderers.

Never was a statement more true- thank you pp for sharing it. I’m going to move to Baltimore or Chicago, where I’ll be safe.

Again, if we continue spewing these lies, we will never ever find a solution. STOP calling gun owners murderers and recognize we all want the same thing- to protect our families. We have the same goal! We vehemently disagree how to achieve it but if we can come to this realization, we can find some solutions. I am a gun owner and an NRA member and I don’t want dead children, anywhere. Not in schools, not in churches, not in city streets.

Ugh. No.

I was all for it until this post. This is important and shouldn’t be tainted by such a divisive group.

Eh. If you were for it -- if you think it's important (as I do -- you'd still be for it. Even if you were joined by people wearing pink knit hats.

Like what? A great majority of NRA members support background checks and a ban on bump stocks. Do you? If so, you should tell the NRA, because they oppose both.

Everyone has knees. Some organizations want you to believe that they don't, but they do.

The NRA has knees, but a teachers' strike or a students' walkout is not going to kneecap them.

Support candidates at every level of government that do not take NRA money. Get out the vote for candidates who do not take NRA money. Give money to NRA-shunning candidates. Call your congresspeople and tell them you will do what it takes to vote them out of office if they take NRA blood money. Be a single-issue voter if you have to be -- because that's where the NRA gets their power.

I hate and despise the NRA with every fiber of my being but the organization will not give a second's thought to a teachers' or students' strike.

I dare you to be less coherent

Very funny.

In order to protect our kids, let's deprive them of the very thing that protects and helps them the most: our schools.

A better way would be for teachers to demand teacher unions to stop being slaves of the Democratic Party and instead use all that financial and mobilization power to punish any politician, right or left, who opposes common sense regulations.

Like Sanders, for example.

Of course you would laugh if they just walk out for an hour.
HOWEVER, if they walk out for 10 weeks, it will be the strike America will remember for a century.
Believe me. Politicians would have to talk. Every business would be affected. In the end, kids missing 10 weeks of school is nothing when we consider the brutality the kids in Colorado, Florida, and Connecticut have been exposed to.
KEEP AMERICAN CHILDREN SAFE. Make America great again, slam the NRA.

We need to shame gun owners just as slave owners were shamed. ALL gun owners are part of the problem. The 2nd amendment should be repealed.

I believe in safe responsible screened gun ownership but you make me an ally of the NRA.
