Camelback is awful - Great Wolf Lodge on the side of a mountain...only go if your kids really want to waterslide ![]() Homestead is nice but skiing is iffy - I love Bedford Springs for the hotel/spa - one of my favorites. We ski Blue Knob while we are there - could do 7 Springs - and then hit White Tail on way out or back if the mood hits. |
OP shouldn't have used the word skiing in her titles. You get a bunch of people who basically live for the 1-2 weeks a year they get to ski and they're going to give you recommendations on where to ski. Plus we're all talking to each other by this point. |
Camelback Lodge is wonderful. They just built a huge new luxury resort with expansive comfortable rooms that have beautiful views of the mountain. Lobby is extremely beautiful and comfortable. You pay to stay there and you get the water park and ski in/out included. We’ve stayed several times and loved it each time.
I wouldn’t say the buffet dinner is perfect but it’s conveniently in the hotel and there is a huge selection to choose from. The breakfast is fabulous. Our family loved it all - especially the water park with the huge indoor/outdoor hot tubs. https://www.camelbackresort.com/plan-your-stay/specials-packages/ |
Thank you! |
Op here. Thank you all for your replies! I appreciate it! |
Okay so what are your top 5 resorts that have blue diamond hills and maybe a black diamond? All but one of us are beginners. |
If you want actual skiiig go to Snowshoe. Or Timberline. But neither are a "luxury resort". |
OP wants skiing and luxury within a 6 hour drive. Can't have both, same reason you don't have luxury beach resort within a 6 hour drive. Weather prohibits the financial return needed for investment. |

This. |
What about Wintergreen?
Otherwise I’d try to find a cheap flight to Burlington VT or something like that. |
If you're getting on a plane you might as well go west.
|
Yeah but it’s kind of like the HGTV shows where people want a bigger, upgraded house in their same neighborhood for the same mortgage they’re paying now. Good luck! |
True. But the question can be answered. If you don't wish to answer OP's question start a spinoff thread on why mid Atlantic skiing is rarely worth it. |
Either last year or the year before, some guy skied into another guy at Seven Springs and killed him. I like 7 Springs - we go there in the summer and have a great time. But I would never go skiing there. It attracts the more party type of crowd and if they attract the same type of people they do during the summer I can see them not being the most careful skiiers |
