Would you vacation alone with kids & without spouse?

Sounds like heaven. My husband can't tolerate changes to his routine and often goes berserk on vacation. If only I had such an excuse!

Same here. Two years ago i took the kids by myself, on a vacation that we enjoyed but dH would have hated and been a huge baby. We had a ton of fun.

I do it often. Sometimes spouse doesn't have the time off and sometimes spouse has no interest in what the kids and I have planned. It works for us.

Yes. And sometimes we only take one kid depending what the trip is (me and younger sub alone to GWL; DH and older son to NFL game).

When the kids are teenagers or older, yes. Right now, they are elementary school aged children so absolutely not.

Go for it and have fun!

I recently took a train trip with 3 yo DD. We had a great time.

Yes - I do this every summer. We try to never go somewhere that DH wants to go. My kids don't like day camps and I like to stay on the go if the kids are out of school. We try to time it when DH has to travel for work so he's not sitting at home lonely. Last year we road tripped up the California coast with another mom friend and her kids. DH would hate a road trip and changing hotels every night so it was a win-win. I really want to do an RV vacation and go to a dude ranch - both vacations he has no interest in doing.

HELL YES!! Go forth and have a fantastic time.

Oops. I'm pp and I misread. I thought you wrote alone without kids and spouse. That I would say yes to. I would not vacation with kids but without spouse.

Me too.

So does op just want to take 1 of her kids and leave behind dh and subsequent kids?
Are we talking day trips or a flight to, say, the Florida keys, or something in between like a few days at Grear wolf lodge?
And could your dh meet you on the tail end of the trip?

Absolutely! Planning a tip now. I usually go with sister and son. But will travel w him alone.

Yes, I've done it a bunch of times. In the dead of winter I will visit my parents in Florida with my toddlers. My DH is fine with it. He gets to watch sports and be a slob for a week.

Hi! OP here. I would take all 3 kids but possibly leave DH home alone. I would like to take off work because I can't arrange camp for the preschooler that week but DH definitely can't take off work that week. Since I'll be off work, I will not arrange camp for the older two either. We could do a staycation but I am also possibly considering taking all the kids to Williamsburg (maybe Kings Mill) or even fly to Tampa and go to Don Cesar which has a kids club.

We will all do an east coast beach vacation together earlier in the summer when we can all take off from work.
I did a staycation this past summer but I kind of got roped into a lot of regular things like dr. appts, etc. & it didn't feel like there was much "cation" involved, but I could try harder this summer.
