I would have no problem with Temple, the area around is rough but the campus itself is fine. Was struck by how many kids were walking around with headphones in paying no attention to their surroundings, if that gives you an idea. St. Joe's is in no man's land, straddling the edge of the city boundary. On one side of campus is suburban Lower Merion, on the other side is the slightly rundown area of Overbrook, which is mostly residential with a small commercial strip. There's a Target not far away and some hotels. Some crime of opportunity along City Ave. I wouldn't call it a dangerous area at all, but I also wouldn't walk alone at night on City Ave. It does have some attractive green space. I don't know LaSalle well. It's a much more city neighborhood, though not a cool happening one. It's a downtrodden area, IMO, but I don't know the crime stats. |
Visited with DS and really enjoyed it. Good restaurants. Also, we were parked illegally for about 5 seconds before a friendly campus police officer knocked on the car window and asked us to move. Several of DS's friends are attending this year and enjoying it. |
