I know gay people who love each other and are married. Many have wonderful stable families with children. Teenagers who have probably never met a gay person much less get to know a couple well vehemently debating whether they should be able to marry or not just seems ludicrous and tremendously intellectually immature. It seems that they have shown up to school with deep seated hatred and prejudice.

Yes, perhaps that is the most conservative of Catholic viewpoints but it seems that they should be working to modernize these views and accept more types of people. It's quite obvious that the vast majority of Catholics don't subscribe to all that is taught? Birth control anyone? Sure, Love Saxa is anti birth control too but as they profess to be virgins not sure how much they understand there either (and hopefully that only affects themselves)

Anyway - this would not seem to be welcoming to 'all students' . It seems blatantly hostile to some and to everyone who knows and loves gay people.

Meh. I think that's just a single student group, but I don't object to religious institutions or groups sticking to their official policies. Plenty of non-religious schools for people with other priorities.

I'm sure. I had just been reading some of the Facebook posts from the September time frame where the lgbtq kids were trying to get their point across and I wasn't impressed with the responses. My daughters go to a liberal catholic school and they embrace gay couples , especially gay alumni.
This group was started by the family research council, aka the whole 'wholier than thou Josh Duggar preaching while cheating on his wife and 4 or 5 kids with ashley Madison prostitues and the whole sister molesting thing. Again - it just doesn't impress me.

I suppose I'm a liberal catholic.

I just watched a Real Sports segment on Georgetown with Patrick Ewing and some of those “student athletes” were incoherent. As long as that school recruits and admits morons it will continue to be a joke. Seriously...watch that segment and make up your own mind.

If you would do some research you would know that GU has a well-funded LGBTQ Resource Center that has the full support of the administration: https://lgbtq.georgetown.edu/

You think all the Ivy League hockey and lacrosse players are geniuses? They're dumb meatheads, too. Google 'Tommy Amaker Harvard admissions' to read all the articles about how they made their basketball team good. You think Stanford's top 10 ranked football roster deserves to be at Stanford? Lol.

That Love Saxa group seems porn-obsessed.

It's maybe the only thing they can still try to get people to stop doing and this achieve 'holier than thou Catholicism '

Does Georgetown consistently have good teachers teaching the undergrads? What are the science teachers like?

There is a thing called academic index. The standard at the ivies is higher than at Georgetown that is for sure.

Why would anyone send their child to GU? Look at their graduates. Where do I start?

This is ridiculous. GT has some fantastic programs and is really well regarded in the DC and international community. Alumni connections are amazing and they do a fantastic job of connecting students with alumni in their field. School of Foreign Service, Business, Public Policy, and others all of have outstanding placements and students are highly sought after for internships and jobs in the public and private sector sectors. I've worked with plenty of Georgetown grads and they are all highly intelligent and at the top of their fields. I personally know alumni from Jewish, Muslim, Hindu, Protestant, and Catholic backgrounds and all seem to have high praise for their experiences at GT. In fact, I am strongly encouraging my DS to apply there next year based on some of his interests.

I graduated from GU in the early 2000s. I had a wonderful experience and a great education. My friends from Georgetown are currently very successful and happy they went. Not all professors were amazing, but isn't that true of any college and university? I can't compare because I only attended one, but I can only assume. I had 2 amazing internships because of the location. I was a public school kid amongst a sea of private, and yes there was some snobbery about that, but once I figured out my friends, it didn't matter. And again, snobbiness can be found everywhere, it's not a Georgetown thing.

It's a good school with a good reputation. If you're heading to the foreign service it's top notch. My kids are young, but if they wanted to go to Georgetown, I would be happy.
