It's hard to get one. You have to go get one every time. |
Maryland should make all bridges into Maryland from VA toll bridges to keep the riff raft out. |
No you don't. You can apply for the guest pass online and they mail you a pass good for 1 year |
It's not absurd. Parking is scarce. You are free to take he metro. |
Parking is scarce. You are free to metro or take the bus if you don't want to bother with parking. |
Take a sharp object and scratch up the van or car which offends you. |
Is this an area with sfh’s?
Do people not understand to park between houses? You don’t park directly in front of someone else’s home if you can avoid it. |
Wow, you all are so nice. When people complain about having cars parked in front of their house for any period of time in Arlington, everyone on this board chastises them and says that it is a public street any one can park there. Heaven forbid anyone should want to have spots open in front of their house. DC must be a whole separate world. |
I've totally seen people in DC chastised here for the same expectation. Note that in this case, it is an out of state vehicle parked there for multiple days without leaving. Not someone parking there for a short time and then leaving. |
I feel badly for folks who live on streets with no RPP in DC. At least in NW, I have noticed that some streets become de facto parking lots for off-duty cabs. |
While annoying, it's not your spot. If it bothers you, I agree with the others and say call 311 w/ the Rosa complaint. BTW- are you now parking in front of a neighbor's house, since this stranger has taken "your" spot? |
Yeah, that's a bit nuts - in MoCo if it's been sitting there a while they come and tow it away, no questions asked. They put a sticker on it telling you to move it and if you don't - buh-bye car. A famous reason to park the car somewhere weird is to hide an asset - collections, divorce.. |
OP here, this is a HOT topic !!!
I asked my neighbor, who knows everything that happens on the street (every block has one of those right???) and she said all the neighbors adjacent to her and me indicated they have no visitors with a VA van parked in front of my house. I am confident this van owner does NOT live on this street. But more importantly, the car has an expired inspection sticker (dated 9/2017) and the car has NOT moved since last Saturday (i know because I have a security camera and it alerts me whenever there is movement in front of my house). I will report this car on Monday via 311. Thanks everyone |
The car likely won’t pass inspection, so they moved it out of va to avoid the ticket. They are waiting till they have time/money to get it fixed. |
OP - I'm surprised that you live on a street with no resident restrictions. To the best of my knowledge all DC streets have them unless there is a good reason (rush hour, metered or two hours restrictions for everyone) to not have them. Given that your street appears to be fairly unique, have you considered the possibility that the person parked their van there just because you live on such a unicorn of a street? |
