There are abandoned car laws. You can't just park your car and leave it somewhere forever. After a few days they will boot it and tow it. You don't actually know if someone is returning to get the car. Or  they could have stolen the car and then abandoned it or maybe someone's dead in there.[/quote]

This vehicle would not meet the Abandoned Vehicle standard as it does not meet 2 of the requirements. The city is actually very lax about vehicles that never move, so long as you keep its registration current and the vehicle can still operate. There's posts on Popville about neighbors who keep a junker car in the same spot all year but the city won't do anything if there's no street sweeping.

Yeah, that's a bit nuts - in MoCo if it's been sitting there a while they come and tow it away, no questions asked. They put a sticker on it telling you to move it and if you don't - buh-bye car.

A famous reason to park the car somewhere weird is to hide an asset - collections, divorce..[/quote]
