PWSI - NPL (pre-npl), red, white, black |
You people are crazy. I've wondered about some of the teams we play as well, I never posted here asking, but I don't see the harm of ranking the colors just so you know who is in your bracket during a tournament.
OP, no worries...Lots of idiots telling you are going overboard and a crazy soccer parent. Yet, they read and reread this post over and over. I wish they would just go 1st, 2nd, 3rd, teams but in 2017, that would not be PC. Loudoun Red, Black, White SYA Red, White, Black Arlington Red, white, blue McLean Green, white, gold DC Stoddert Blue, red, white You can thank me later, but what I just did is admit that I'm a CCL parent and they will attack the league now! BTW, we were in a tournament last weekend and noticed a ton of "1st" teams playing down into lower brackets in an effort to take home metals. Glad to see a few of them getting taken out of medal running. |
^^^^ Glad we are not all crazy trolls on this board - it is some peoples pastime to troll these boards just to set people off - don't respond to Trolls. I agree that 1st teams should not be playing down if they are competitive in that division. Our situation was that our 2nd team was playing in a low bracket - but it was still competitive division with teams from Ohio, PA, NJ, etc.... The top team "borrowed" some of our best players, which is why I think our 2nd team was playing lower than it should have. |
Don't make assumptions. Our 1st team from a strong club truly belongs in the 2nd division of tournaments. Their games were all competitive (they went 1-1-1) but they didn't make the finals despite playing in the second division. Sometimes that placement makes sense. |
I agree. Particularly because you have 'easy' leagues in this area. Some CCL teams don't stand a chance against some of the MD and PA teams that come in for tournaments. In that case, a 2nd tier makes sense. Our first team usually plays up an entire age group. Not all Clubs just care about 'got soccer'. |
I'm not going to get into an debate of CCL teams belonging in top tier, but I think if you claim to be the elite team playing in an elite league such as CCL then you should be competing in that top tier. If you do well, then you have proven your point, if not then at least you know where you need to make improvements. As with most clubs, sometimes you just hit a sweet spot with an age group where it just works. Right players, right coaches, etc. I'll take a good loss over a BS win any day. |
A lot of those teams lose big in the first division and many of the competitive tournaments (at least for older kids) require an application, results and vetting and match the teams to brackets accordingly. For little kids, it's just a crapshoot. |
yes, Black is 1 and Red is 2 |
Each club handles it differently check with the individual club. |
Guys, seriously, in travel/select soccer all that matters is the A-B team and C-D team. If you have anything after the 4th team, have your child practice on their own, go to rec as well, or have another club take a look at your child. Even the coaches know they are coaching the 5th and lower teams and their effort will show. For A-B team, the kids are probably same level and a decision needed to be made; for C-D team for the most part these kids will never get a second look at the same club and if you want your child to play at a higher level than you have to switch clubs. Even the new kids that are on the cusp will be placed on the B team as opposed to being sent to a lower team. In U13 and up, if everybody sticks around, mostly A team players go somewhere else(DA, EDP teams) and B and C players make up the first team with a few from A that stuck around and if there are enough left some B-C-D team players make up the second team. For most clubs around U16 there is usually only one team left and this is mainly average B-C-D team players as they are the only ones that don't do HS, DA, Natl team, EDP, R1 or as teenager decided to give it up after 6+years. The colors only matter in U9-U11. |
Anyone know SAC? |
