For how many miles did your Honda Pilot last? We are at 230,000.

My 2006 Honda Pilot has 295,000 miles on it. I have done maintenance as specified and have replaced items you would expect like alternator, starter and compressor at least once over the years. I plan on keeping it until it is due for its third timing belt at 315,000 miles. Then I plan to buy the new Honda Passport and hopefully keep it for at least 10 to 15 years.

We are a Honda family, our Hondas have rocked! I had a CRV for ten years and it was awesome. I only switched to a Prius to get the HOV exemption. My next car will be a CRV.

We have a 2004 Honda Pilot with over 260,000 miles. We replaced the timing belts at 100,000 and 200,000. It’s a great car.

My first car blows all your cars away for miles. It made it to 162,000 miles and 18 years of age before it was totaled in an Accident. The kicker was it never went to a mechanic. Guy I bought if off changed oil and brakes himself, he even had a tire mount. Most expensive repair in history of car was $20 dollars. It was a Dodge Dart. I recall I changed Motor Mount myself, one was broken part was $9 dollars, used car jack to life engine and put new mount in. It was crazy cheap and easy to fix.

Lots of folks brag about making it to 162,000 but how much did repairs and maint cost?

My BMW 5 series I owned never broke in four years I owned it but regular maint was crazy expensive.

My Camry was pretty good but parts was expensive and lots of plastic things that easily broke.

MY GMC Denalli, great car but complicated so always some electrical thing.

My Cadillac CTS boring to drive as a base model, but reliable as shit, no wonder there are used for car service.

My Ford Taurus cost nothing to fix. Damm full sized Lexus SUV t-boned me at 50 miles and hour and totalled it. But guess what, with a broken windshield, two broken passenger windows and a bent frame that even caused glove box to pop out to my shock it started and I drove it home. The Lexus got towed The cops were in total shock it ran as she dragged me 20 feet down the road. Then again Japan lost WWII to America so was not suprised.

Yeah we had a Honda CRV years ago and that thing sucked. Constant issues and the AC grenaded and was going to cost $6k to repair and they wouldn't consider it a known issue despite many CRVs doing that. I hate Hondas. We switched to Nissans and have been eally pleased.

I have a 2007 honda ridgeline with 209,000 miles and the timing belt/water pump service came on the other day so I'm probably going to do that. Otherwise it's been running great with no issues. I did change the tranny fluid and rear differential fluids last year. Hoping to keep it 2-3 more years.

This was one of the posts that persuaded us (me really) to buy a Pilot last fall. I love it. Hope it lasts as long as all of yours.

Timing belt is a wear item. It needs to be preventatively replaced. It's not an indication of build quality or lack thereof when you replace one. Just check your manual and replace at the recommended interval

If you got t-boned by a Lexus GX/LX in a Ford Taurus at 50MPH you'd be dead. It certainly wouldn't start and drive.

I've got a 2008 Honda Civic 155,000 miles ish and never had any major issues except a small oil leak that is still going on as we speak. I bought the car in the fall of 2010 I forget how many miles were on it when I got it exactly now I would have to check my paperwork. Where I bought it, I would get the oil changed there and had bought an extra warranty at the time of purchase. The oil never started leaking until a bit later, like I would say a good year or 2 before the warranty ran out. I think they screwed me because they kept making small excuses like it was the plug or a ring and little minor issues. My mechanic - someone else checked and the oil leak is so small that he said he would keep it and not fix the issue if it was his car unless the leak gets bigger. We just check the oil every few weeks and add a tiny bit. I forget now what the issue is but to fix this oil leak it must be something major that would cost alot to repair. Probably more so in hours than the actual parts to repair the issue. I wish I knew where he said the leak was coming from but I think Fitzgerald Toyota, which is where I bought the car and an extra warranty which had ran out by this time, knew the leak and just bull shitted me around the whole time until the warranty ran out and then it was like Oh now its a major issue not a minor issue. Otherwise never had any troubles with the thing runs great. My honda has a timing chain not a belt so I was told no sense in changing it. Also something makes a noise when i turned the wheel a certain way like a crunk/creak type noise so I don't know what that might be but it has always passed inspection except for brakes and tires and the normal upkeep. I also had the transmission fluid drained and replaced, that was in 2016. Seemed to run better after I did that cause every so often when you would first start to drive there was a slight hesitation and you could feel it. Once I did the trans Flush I no longer feel that. I love Honda's. I had a another Civic before this. I am looking into a used Pilot its an 06 with like 148,000 miles and the cost is like $6400. I am thinking is it worth it? New tires and New brakes private owner. I need something bigger for kids and don't have money for a brand new car. ANy and all advice would be appreciated. Thank You!!!!

I’ve got a 2008 Pilot. I had to do a valve job at 60k miles. I just passed 180k miles and am now in need of another valve job. Within the last two years I have replaced the water pump, alternator, serpentine belt, timing belt, catalytic converter, power steering pump. I get my pilot regularly serviced and the engine and transmission feel great. Hopefully after this second valve job I can get another 100k miles out of it.

OP here. Its still chugging along at 260,000. We rent cars for long haul trips (even though my husband said that this is not necessary). But we use the Pilot for anything under 4 hours. I love my Pilot.
