I've got a 2008 Honda Civic 155,000 miles ish and never had any major issues except a small oil leak that is still going on as we speak. I bought the car in the fall of 2010 I forget how many miles were on it when I got it exactly now I would have to check my paperwork. Where I bought it, I would get the oil changed there and had bought an extra warranty at the time of purchase. The oil never started leaking until a bit later, like I would say a good year or 2 before the warranty ran out. I think they screwed me because they kept making small excuses like it was the plug or a ring and little minor issues. My mechanic - someone else checked and the oil leak is so small that he said he would keep it and not fix the issue if it was his car unless the leak gets bigger. We just check the oil every few weeks and add a tiny bit. I forget now what the issue is but to fix this oil leak it must be something major that would cost alot to repair. Probably more so in hours than the actual parts to repair the issue. I wish I knew where he said the leak was coming from but I think Fitzgerald Toyota, which is where I bought the car and an extra warranty which had ran out by this time, knew the leak and just bull shitted me around the whole time until the warranty ran out and then it was like Oh now its a major issue not a minor issue. Otherwise never had any troubles with the thing runs great. My honda has a timing chain not a belt so I was told no sense in changing it. Also something makes a noise when i turned the wheel a certain way like a crunk/creak type noise so I don't know what that might be but it has always passed inspection except for brakes and tires and the normal upkeep. I also had the transmission fluid drained and replaced, that was in 2016. Seemed to run better after I did that cause every so often when you would first start to drive there was a slight hesitation and you could feel it. Once I did the trans Flush I no longer feel that. I love Honda's. I had a another Civic before this. I am looking into a used Pilot its an 06 with like 148,000 miles and the cost is like $6400. I am thinking is it worth it? New tires and New brakes private owner. I need something bigger for kids and don't have money for a brand new car. ANy and all advice would be appreciated. Thank You!!!!
