I think it depends on the people. My son told me that the father of one of his friends who is 50 is married to a 29 year old. I knew the dad but not the wife. When I met the wife, she actually seemed older than the husband personality-wise - just sort of a stodgy, unrelaxed person. So the age difference made sense and worked for them.
