They've been together 8 years and seem to be very happy and in love. They have 2 kids.

8 years is nothing really

They're still married and happy with 2 young kids that bodes well to me especially when so many young couples divorce when the kids are still in diapers.

They've lasted twice as long as other couples that got together the same time who were closer in age.

Don't compare everything against the worst cases. 8 years is not a long marriage. You can't know how happy they are from the outside.
Maybe lots of people doubted their union so they try extra hard to act happy and in love. You really have no idea.

NP here. But what is wrong with you? Why do you need so desperately to believe that this couple isn't happy and that they'll eventually break up?

Did your ex leave you for an older woman?

Woody Allen is about 40 years older than Soon Yi and they have been together for a long time.

25 years. Woman is older. He's closer in age to her grown children than she is.

He's an old soul who never wanted kids. She rebuffed him for a solid year of pursuit because of the age gap.

They've been married almost 20 years now and are quite honestly a most perfect couple. You don't really notice the age difference when you're with both of them since they are so well matched.

Whoa! The WOMAN is nearly 20 years older??

How old were they when they met?

How'd they get around all the reservations about the woman being the much older one?

My cousin was 20 and she was 39. There was a lot of tension and arguments on both sides, My aunt had a lot of not nice things to say about her son's choice in partner they were estranged for awhile. Eloped ( sort of) I knew about the wedding. Family relations started to improve 6 years ago when their 1st was born.

20 and 39????!!!! He was a kid!

I could see 30 & 49, but why would an adult woman want to deal with a kid she couldn't even take to a bar???

he was probably sporting a third leg

That should say "closer in age to her grown children than to HER". Obviously she's older than her own children....

No, I have been married for 21 years. I find it funny someone thinks 8 years is long. That was honeymoon time.

Sister and BIL. 12 years. They met when she was a sophomore in college, which made the age difference seem more dramatic.

But the first time I met him, before they were even dating (he was her boss!!), I knew 100% that he was the perfect person for her. I subtly hinted that to her, and she thought I was crazy. They went on a date a few months later, and they've now been married 16 years with two kids and run a business together. My opinion on him has not changed a bit since the day I met him. They are still perfect for each other, and in some ways he's the big brother I never had.

13 years. It only became an issue in the end when he needed full-care nursing home. That was really rough on the finances, especially since she is long since retired, but likely to live for over a decade or more.

So you're just miserable in general. 'I've been married longer than you and I say to the 8 year couple good for them. Lifes so much better when you don't seek negatvity.

Define successful. I know one couple with a 25 year age difference. They've been married a long time, have 2 kids, but he's super-controlling, won't let her go out by herself, and thinks she's cheating all the time. I personally would not call that successful.
