Bless you for thinking of the less fortunate. This sentiment is far too rarely expressed here. |
| 55 have 1.4 million in 401k accounts. |
| 37 and respectable but less than I want. Am realizing now how far behind you end up if you are in an industry without any company match. 10 yrs with no match and now a new job for 2 yrs with a 7% match -- makes a huge difference. |
| 32.. I have 75k in my 401k. Husband is 46 and has about 500k. We definitely feel behind, but this seems reassuring! |
| 42 - 460k. I also have a paid off investment property worth 800k that generates about 40k in net income. Ironically, cash is tight on a month to month basis but we are looking good long term. |
| 33 / $150K in 401K. This is just me, doesn't include my husbands, which is more than this. |
|
Me = 51 and just over $1M
Wife = 50 and $700k Combination of 401ks, rollover IRAs, and SEP-IRA. |
| 52, $1.1 million |

34 and 300k
DH is37 and I'm guessing he has 200k. I should ask... |
| 41 and have $170K, spouse is 42 has about the same. Both in 401(K)s. My company will start matching this year so hopefully can get more aggressive. |

32 and really behind.
Career wise, I should be able to catch up later; however my concern is with annual max / and the fact that my career doesn't always offer 401k (and the IRA max is much much smaller) I have been meaning to talk with a financial planner about this. If anyone cares what my unique profession is, I am a veterinarian. -I have a rolled over 401k (now IRA) from prior to starting vet school. It has made great gains but I have not added anything since. -paying off school debt first. Done in 6-8 years. -often my career is in small business, and they don't always offer 401k. For example my current employer. -by owning a business later and/or being in demand for a higher salary later, and being out of debt, I will be able to catch up -but how to do this when I'm subject to a low annual contribution max with an IRA?? |

Good thread...but what your stock/bond mix?
I am a PP age 51 with $1.1M and 85% stock 10% bond 5% cash mix. Probably too much in stock funds. Plan on retiring at 66. |
| 50 with 220k DH is 52 and has 550k. |
|
32, $250K in 401k/Roth ira. DH has another $250K.
Then we have another $110K in investments that aren't retirement specific. |
| 47 single $650,000 401k/Roth/Ira. Plus small pension. Ran numbers in theory I could cease all future contributions, retire at 64, and not run out of money for 20 plus years. I Am not planning to stop contributing any time soon. But the thought that I could in theory was reasuring. |
