I don't think he was ever in charge of college admissions, so there's that. Also, lol to race blind job applications. I'm so done listening to white people whine about efforts to level the playing field in a system that they rigged for centuries, and expect us to think you've done your due diligence in a single generation. Done. My mother couldn't drink at the same water fountains as some of you fools. I'm under 30. It hasn't been long enough for you to pat your selves on the back and called it square.

There is still a massive discrepancy in the quality of education and enrichment that many minority children have access to compared to your lily white snowflakes. So sorry to break it to you, but the black kid you think stole your kid's seat because he scored 100 points lower? That kid is a fighter. He ran the same race as your kid, except he had a handicap, and your kid had wheels, and in the end your kid barely beat him. Yes he deserves the spot. That black kid has the abilities coupled with a drive to change the world. He'll give back to his community and to the university. Your kid may do that same things, but white men have always had their chance. It's time for everyone else to have theirs too.

Yawn I'm about 30 and white so much liberal bs in here I don't know where to begin

rigged wtf does that even mean rigged lol

a fighter wtf does that mean too hate to break it to you but most of these fighters are even more privileged than the whites you have no problem disparaging. Call it the Sasha/malia Obama effect. A middle to uppermiddle class upper class URM candidate is a slam dunk in admissions vs the tens of thousands of whites and Asians who aren't even given a second look

give back to their community really almost no one actually does that regardless of race, those admissions essays are such a joke

white men have had their chance eh and now its our turn eh.... you know what f you I grew up lower middle class... no one bent the rules for me, I didn't have SAT prep, I didn't have minority admission days/preferences whatever bs they have now, so f you take this racist bs out of here

There you go again generalizing. Many of these so called "snowflakes" come from broken homes, work several jobs and go hungry because there is no money to feed them. Whatever happened to the words "walk a mile in their shoes..." theory?

Your "shoulda been mah scholarship" nonsense might carry more weight if your writing conveyed any intelligence at all.

Well, the data shows that poor White kids do just fine in the Ivy admissions process. Better than higher SES Whites in fact.

There are easily 3000 white and Asian students across the country who are better than 250 of the 300 black students at Harvard and deserve a spot over them

On what basis?

Grade inflation? SAT/ACT prep with more than a dozen bites at the exam? admission consultants?

Did these 3000 folk you identified even apply to Harvard?

Right...I wonder if all these beneficiaries of grade inflation, test prep ad nauseum and private school admissions tutors and consultants make any important contributions to society and mankind over their life span? I bet if we had the data you will discover the real gems and movers and shakers over a life time do not come from this doted upon and entitled cohort!

This is the argument for not basing admission decisions or job hiring solely on the basis of a grade point average or super scored SAT or ACT report. I would submit that drive, passion, empathy, leadership and character play a far more important role. These qualities are not measured by grade inflated GPAs and SAT/ACT scores alone!! You can take that to the bank.

More international kids and everyone is checking a diversity box. A great grandma from Argentina suddenly makes a white girl in Bethesda "Hispanic"

Wonder if my lily white child should get a DNA test to see if she qualifies for a minority card like Senator Warren?

Due diligence doesn't mean what you think it means but regardless, the SAT differential isn't 100 points.....it's more like 250 points. And the point about job applications is exactly the opposite of what you're implying. Many large (especially public) companies have explicit quotas for the hiring of minorities and females. This is to your benefit so i don't know what your loling.

Haha......my daughter asked the same thing. She was hoping there was a native american great grandmother somewhere in our past.

Well there certainly isn't an academic bar to start a thread like this. You seem not to realize that senior citizens do not attend college. The population of non-Hispanic white children is just around 50%. Seems that Harvard picked a class that appropriately reflects America.

But it does not reflect the population of students qualified and prepared for an elite education in the United States.

If minority means African American and Latinos I do not by the Harvard statistics. This is fake news!

The operative word here is minority. How is this defined by Harvard? Is this self report or does Harvard recategorize the applicants according to their definition of minority? Are low SES or rural (fly over) whites part of the minority group?

Ah, yes. Those black kids growing up in 1.5 million dollar houses and going to Sidwell/Maret/etc.- such fighters. Such handicaps. I'm so glad they will finally have their chance.

since whites are less than 50% now, doesn't that make them URMs?
And AAs, at 14.6%, are slightly overrepresented. Hmm..

It is so amazing how the default is always to assume that all blacks are poor and lack intelligence when the reality is that blacks are as diverse as any racial group in terms intellect, SES and values. Having less melanin or being from Asia does not inherently make an individual more intelligent or have better values. Seeing this post just reminds me how racist and dumb people on DCUM are.

Do you know why there are black kids growing up in those million dollar homes? Because affirmative action programs gave their parents a shot even though they may not have had perfect scores of their better prepared white peers. Save it.
