How cluttered is your bedroom? Hoarding scale 1- 9 in picture form

We are at a 2 right now. It's all STDW's crap.

I can't stand clutter, but STBDW has mild hoarder tendencies (keeps EVERY receipt, won't throw out mail, keeps every magazine, etc.)

I think I am comfortably at 1-1/2.

Yup me too - One and a half

1- 1.5. I don't know how anyone could live with anything beyond a 2.

OP here -- yeah, actually I'm more like you. I have the clutter of a 3, but it is all in laundry baskets or boxes, or piled (pretty neatly in stacks) on flat surface.

I saw another checklist where you got "dinged" pretty severely for having more than 3 laundry baskets of dirty laundry in any one room so.... I have a new goal now.. no more than one laundry basket full at a time!

With all due respect, OP, you should get off DCUM and clean up the mess in your home. Fulfill your goal of washing dirty laundry rather than let in moulder and put away or get rid of whatever you are storing in the boxes. You are endangering your healthy with all that mold inducing clutter

Wondering what level other people are. Is everyone really at a 1 or 2?

From #1 to #2 is a pretty big leap in the bedroom, but looks about accurate in the kitchen scale.

I'd say it varies by room for me. My bedroom is a 1. I can't stand a messy bedroom. My kid's bedrooms are probably a 2 or 3 depending on what day of the week it might be.

My kitchen starts as a 1 (on the kitchen scale) and usually ends up a 2 by Friday. Why does everything end up living in the kitchen during the week?!

I had an internship in college that was doing therapy with the elderly (Psych major) and I was in many homes that were 8s & 9s. The smell in a hoarder's house is so unique... like mildew + musk + rotting papers + spoiled milk. I used to strip out of my nice clothes, bag them, and then put sweats on to drive back in my car. It didn't matter if I was only in there for 5 mins., the smell permeated everything.

We are between a 1 and 2. However, my natural tendency is toward 3-4 -- if it weren't for my DH we would be there.

We are pretty much in the 2 category most of the time.... I wish it weren't so.

OK here's a different one:

These are ridiculous. Anything above 3 is borderline unlivable.

Agreed. Who has random stuff on their kitchen floor (pic 2)?!?!?

Tell me something I don't know PP!

OK here's a different scale for kitchen clutter.

Are you a level

1) ZERO clutter on counter

2) VERY MINIMAL clutter on counter

3) GROUPED and FUNCTIONAL stuff on counter, not minimal

4) CLUTTERED COUNTER but appliances, sink are accessible and useful

5) CLUTTER EXTENDS TO SINK, appliances like stove can't be used without clearing

6) COMPLETELY RANDOM CLUTTER OVER ALL FLAT SURFACES

7) CLUTTER STARTS TO EXTEND TO FLOOR

There is a lot between 1 and 2. I'm a 1 and DH is a 4. It's horrible.

The pictures don't seem realistic. A messy kitchen would be full of dirty dishes. I'd like to know how clean kids' bedrooms are?

I am this one. But I think there's HUGE difference between 3 & 4. I have some stuff on the counter (knife block, electric kettle, dish soap), and then in the corner a small cluster of ingredients I generally keep out for use in cooking that day (often so I don't forget to grab them when cooking).

I am a semi-hoarder, but my bedroom is spotless (unless you open one of the drawers or closets). I couldn't sleep if I saw that mess.

My attic is a mess. It's also my home office. But it's the only place to store things.

I am one of those private hoarders who has cabinets. drawers and closets packed---but if you walked in my house you wouldn't know the extent of the problem.

This is one of the things I pledged to work on and I started with my youngest child's bedroom a few weeks ago and ended up donating 5 large hefty bags of clothes. It is so much nicer.

I am going to purge my own closets/drawers and my older son's before school starts---I swear.

I really do like the feeling of when I'm on vacation and I have just my favorite outfits with me and the closets/drawers are sparse. I don't wear half the crap I own.

I am a #1 the day my cleaning lady comes. I clear off entire surfaces before she comes.

My kitchen is my thing. I can't stand sh*t on my counters. My husband is much more minimalist and neater than me---except that he spreads shit out all over the kitchen counters/dining room table. It drives me mad.

It's a constant battle and he will point to my over-stuffed drawers, cabinets and closets.
