Thanks for making me cry.

I honestly feel like I’m going to throw up after reading this.

Puppy mills are horrific. Never buy from a place like the puppy spot, just puppies, etc. And don’t buy from the Amish.

Puppy mill owners are criminals in my opinion.

I don’t want to buy from a puppy mill but I’m finding it difficult to impossible to find a reputable breeder.

Pricey pups will go down and that's a fact!

You literally have no clue. It's basic Econ- supply and demand. Please go away the adults are speaking.

It's not impossible stop being drama. Get on a waiting list, adopt a mutt etc. Don't let your impatience feed into dogs being kept in absolute squalor.

Adopt. Also be patient. Most good breeders time their litters. Check out AKC registered breeders and be prepared to travel. We drove 4 hours to get our Cairn when I was a kid. She was a wonderful dog who lived to be early 20.

find a rescue group that deals with the breed u want. Some may be mixes but you are helping a dog that needs a home.

Because people want specific breeds that are almost impossible to find in shelters/rescues. Which is fine, I don’t think it’s fair to expect everyone in the country to get a pit or lab mix.

People also want puppies because puppies are cute, plus a huge number of shelter/rescue dogs have major behavior problems. Most of my friends who adopted ended up with dogs that had separation anxiety, aggression/reactivity, or they just had no idea how to behave in a house since they had only lived on the streets. I didn’t want to deal with that, I wanted a puppy I could socialize well, and a lot of other people feel the same way.

Good breeders usually have a 1-3 year waiting list for puppies. Puppy Spot is able to produce specific breeds very quickly, so they can charge a premium and people will pay it.

I don’t really understand the pressure and guilt trips to adopt. It’s not my fault that someone didn’t fix their dog, or moved and decided to dump their dog at the shelter. Why is it my responsibility to clean up after them? We don’t pressure people to adopt children the same way we do dogs.

1. None of my rescue dogs have had any issues. The majority don't.
2. Puppy Spot can produce more puppies by being unethical and cruel.
3. Why should you clean up other people's problems? Because dogs are EUTHANIZED if not adopted. By the millions. That doesn't happen to children (tho the Foster System needs more money and people helping of course.)

Puppy Spot employees become very hostile when it is pointed out to them that 3.7 million pets are euthanized every year
in this country. They claim these dogs are coming in from other countries.
I think that should be easy to refute. Their employees are brainwashed!

Ask around dog breeder groups, OP. This is an adopt-heavy board. I say that as a person who has adopted all her dogs but breeds horses—a reputable breeder will have lots of show industry connections.

I just bought a cat from a reputable breeder. It was a long process and expensive. Getting her here was expensive also. She worth all that. Beautiful healthy friendly. No health problems. There are reputable breeders but it’s a long wait and expensive.

THIS! My experience also.

My parents have bought two dogs from them. One arrived so filthy and the other has major problems.
