They put the time into asking you, as opposed to ordering the cheapest thing from ToysRUs.
So weird.

It's not that hard to pick out gifts; I got these things recently:

- Shirt that said Max Out for a kid named Max; also Headbanz game bc he's getting into acting
- Eagles toy storage bin for kid who's a fan and they just moved into a new house
- Personalized initial big sister shirt for a 3 yr old who's getting a baby brother

none of these are the cheapest thing from Toys R Us.

I guess if you don't know the kid at all it may make sense.

You don't have to give them specific UPCs for products to buy! Just general ideas. Does your DH like Star Wars? Marvel? Playdoh? Nerf guns? Lego? Minecraft?

Some kids love Star Wars, some have zero interest in it. It's useful to know what is an area of interest to a kid.

It doesn't bug me. What bugs me is people who buy stuff for my kids without asking to see if we already have it, or if we approve of it, or if we even really need it or want it. It's especially bad if they give us something huge that takes up half a room or part of the backyard.
