RIDICULOUS |
Teacher appreciation day would go over much better. |

New in the school system - my kid is in PEP.. What are the occasions that people usually give gifts to teachers:
Holidays, TA week and year-end? Or do you do something for Valentines/Easter? I've only given gifts at Christmas so far. |
Yes, nuts. School has baked goods day, cards day, flower day, meals provided, money given.....way, way too much. |

I think its going to depend on the school your child attends. If your child goes to a Title 1 school, bet your bottom dollar the teacher wants supplies so they don't have to use their own personal money to buy any. If your child goes to a "fancy" private school where supplies are in abundance (because your tuition dollars guarantee that), supplies aren't needed or wanted and a gift card so the teacher can treat themselves to something nice is the way to go. If your child goes to a middle class public school or middle class private, then I think supplies are still not wanted (they tend to not run low) and gift cards or those week long celebrations of lunch, treats, small gifts are the way to go.
One size doesn't fit every situation. |
Agree...and for our school, they just rolled out the over-priced book fair last week. It's overboard. |
