Do you spend too much on any particular item?

I'm glad you mentioned the hair....I spend 90 plus parking and tip on a haircut. Feels like a lot....can't even imagine the highlights....

All the above are my major weaknesses. They are a must in my house to keep me happy!

Kids clothes are my downfall too. I LOVE dressing them up, especially matching. I get everything on sale (50% usually, i buy at the end of the season for next year) but it still adds up. I need to stop, I know. I've been better lately.
Nanny and private preschool tuition, though, are the huge budgetary line items that dwarf all else. But those are not going away, so I need to rein it in at the kiddie boutiques and stop buying crap at target!

Designer shoes for my 7 year old. Totally not kidding. Can't really stop myself since my own closet is not too slouchy (although, in fairness, neither of us approach Jimmy Choo or Manolo).

Trader Joe's has the best prices for cheese. But my favorite grocery place is MOM'S. I love them. That's what makes me happy.

Eating out. 3 to 5 nights a wk. in the summer. It is insanely expensive and if I ever added up how much we are spending on it I would probably be ill but I do not like to cook (well, I dislike meal planning/shopping even more than the actual cooking). My not even two year old told us the other night she "wanted to order" and I realized I am totally warping my kids too.

The end of season 70% off is not unreasonable. Those prices are the same as in season Target clothes, and they look better. That is how I do it. My problem is that I see one deal, then another, then another, then whoops, dd has 5 sweaters, when she could easily get by with 2.

I do the same thing - buy way too much on sale and so my kids end up with closets full of beautiful things. What I save with the discounted prices, I more than make up for in volume. The only upside is that because they have so much, their clothes are usually in very good condition at the end of the season and I can sell/consign them. I am really trying to cut back on the volume, though.

Places like Target are just terrible. They breed consumptive spending and you always leave with more then you wanted/needed. I try to go way less often than I used to and only when I really need something there.

we are hurting a bit financially at this moment, and yet, the amout of $ we spend on top-notch dog and cat care is astonishing: food, holistic supplements, vet care, vet specialists (like an allergist and opthamologist), meds, etc ....
