And no, I don't like DeVos. Dems are just powerless and we are going to see a bunch of unqualified people/banker billionaires running our country.

So, do nothing?

I mean...what else can we do? They are going to run/ruin the country as they see fit. She'll get confirmed despite all of this effort and hoopla. I don't get it, I guess I was looking for an explanation of how all of this opposition will actually change anything.

I think you have a misunderstanding. There are currently 2 republicans who have already said they are voting against her. That makes the vote count 50, 50 and Pence's vote tilts in favor of DeVos.

If one more republican flips that makes it 51-49 and Pence's vote would not matter. That is what the urgency about!

Ellison was on the Daily Show addressing this very point last night. He quoted another politician whose name I can't remember, and explained that people don't always need to know that you will win, they need to know that you will fight for what you/they believe in. That's why that sit-in on gun control was so moving. That's why this time in history SINCE the election has been so moving. People are resisting and the politicians are learning from them. A person that is not willing to fight for what is important to her/him and her/his constituents should not be elected.

This, thank you.

Are the same people that want McCain to reclaim his Maverick identity, the same people that voted against him in 2008?

If he had picked anyone other than Palin I may very well have voted for him. I wrote him in in 2004!

Probably some of them. Maybe they called him a reckless and dangerous fascist too, but I don't know.

OK, thank you. The last I'd heard on the radio, Pence would be the tie breaker so it wouldn't matter. But that is encouraging that one more might flip. That would be something.

Same here. He had my support until he picked the grossly unqualified/ridiculous Palin. That said, even Palin's starting to look like an A+ choice in comparison to our Pres.

Resistance is WORKING. We might not win every battle but these efforts ARE making a dent.

I sent a fax to McCain yesterday. Yeah I'm not a constituent and he will probably ignore it, but there are occasions where he shows that he has a moral compass and a backbone, and he doesn't have an upcoming reelection to worry about.

Fair enough

Matt Yegelisas and his total history of work is why I will never be a democrat. He is the most partisan person/writer I know
