What toy or game was a big hit today?

we have an 11 year old, 13 year old and 8 year old and the virtual reality glasses were a big hit here too, Sun and Moon..their grandparents sent them a collector's edition of Scrabble-really nice game board-the three of them loved it (who knew?)

14 year old, 11 year old, 9 year old. The big joint gift was an Anki Overdrive set. They love it, and so does the cat, to the point that they are setting up rules about the cat bonus laps you get when the cat sends your car flying.

Individually -- son's aunt hit it out of the park with a giant set of Magic: The Gathering cards.

Daughter 1 was ecstatic over her new Lego Creator sets (holiday toy workshop and Yellow Submarine).

Daughter 2 went ballistic for the Miposaur.

The lego Toy Workshop is one of their best Christmas village sets. If they every re release the bakery, that one is great too.

+1!! DS 12 went nuts when he opened it b/c we kept telling him it was too expensive and besides, it was sold out. He didn't think he had any chance to get it. The other hit was the cheap VR glasses. Uncle gave it to him.

Virtual Reality glasses. You have to have a smart phone. iPod , etc to use it. DS only had an IPad, but luckily Grandma got a new iPhone for Christmas and gave him her old iPhone (we will not connect cell service though). Otherwise, he would have had to keep using my iPhone!!

Same...VR glasses. Best $15 gift.

Could those of you who got cheap VR glasses recommend brands? DS wants them and has some Christmas money to spend. I thought they were way more than $15 so I didn't even really look into them.

Beats Solo 3 Headphones for a 15 yo. Expensive...no deals to be had.

Have no idea the brand. Bought his at Wegmans and had an "as seen on TV" sticker on it.

Agreed. We got the Google Cardboard kind- they weren't even $15, super fun for all.

Do those things work?

Absolutely! My son got BB-8 last year because that was his must have gift. It was actually pretty boring and he lost interest after a day. Still playing with Cozmo, but of course it's only been a day. He can play games with you, has emotions, recognizes you by name, can even recognize our cat - but just says pet. I hope the next update includes being able to give your pet a name and then it will call out its name when it sees it. The playing games with you is one of the best parts.
