That's exactly what self-medicating means. Sadly, mental illness is the reason why a whole lot people take street drugs. Either they don't understand what's going on, or they don't have access to medical care. There also wasn't nearly the spectrum of antidepressants available back in the '80s and '90s that there are now. Carrie has said many times that she didn't understand what was wrong with her.

The point is OP said for "everyone" to pray. Not everyone prays and not everyone knows or cares about random Hollywood stars. It's not anti Carrie Fisher or anti prayer, but just don't go making blanket statements telling "everyone" to pray.
