I asked a rabbi for a name that meant what you are saying (DD was born with health problems amd recovered) and she was given the Hebrew name Aliza, which means joyful... the meaning for us is joyful after suffering. |
Name her after the most successful woman in the history of American politics:
KellyAnne |
Or Jaime, for Jaime Caetano, a leader in the civil rights movement. What Rosa did for the 14th Amendment is what Jaime did for the 2nd Amendment. |
lol, oh god. She certainly overcame the odds. |
Or Michaela/Micaela I love the name Michaela but I can't figure out if the spelling would drive me nuts, because there are so many variants. |
Scarlet |
Why not something like Faith or Hope? |
Rachel Maddow destroyed her the other night in an interview. I think their "win" was dumb luck more than actual strategy |
Emmeline (Emmaline Pankhurst) Eleanor (Eleanor Roosevelt) Helen (Helen Keller, my personal favorite) These women were all fighters. |
My middle name is Hope. I really like it. I kept it rather than my maiden name because I liked that it wasn't the same as everyone else's (Lynn or Ann)
I was the one who posted Elaine as a middle name-dd#2 was supposed to be Veronica Elaine. Veronica just was too big a name when we saw her. I still think it is a great choice. We were going to call her Nikki (it was a nod to the terrible name my husband suggested when I was first pregnant-thought it was a cute nickname, though) My daughters middle names are Dawn and Renee. |
This is OP. Several people have suggested Helen, which I REALLY like -- maybe enough to make it a first name. Thank you all for your help! |
If it's her middle name, how about "strong"? |
Gabriella means strength or godly strength |
Nadezhda means hope, and is a really lovely name. |
Nadia is a shortened variant of this. Love it. |
