Best board games or card games that are fun for parents, too

Sorry Sliders is fun and so much better than original Sorry

We purchased the Monopoly card game and will never play the boring long board version ever again.

Life is just awful. As is Chutes, Yatzee, Candyland, etc...

I can tell you the ones to avoid:

Apple to Apples (jr or adult)
Life
Trouble
Chutes and Ladders
anything Disney princess
Candyland
Monopoly
Clue (unless they actually can really all play on their own)
Yatzee
Checkers/Othello
Uno
Guess Who (although Guess Where is pretty good)
War, Go Fish, or Old Maid.

There are so many good games by Blue Orange, Asmodee, and SET enterprises. Stick to those 3 companies and you won't be disappointed.

My family loves a lot of the games on your list! Especially Apples to Apples and Clue! When they were really little, our kids loved Candyland and Chutes and Ladders- those games are classics for a reason. Yes, the adults get tired of them, but they're a nice way for kids to start to learn about the concepts of games: taking turns, counting spaces, dealing with winning and losing.

Kids in my family who ended up liking engineering type activities really liked Kerplunk and Jenga. Adults can enjoy these, too.

The game of life

My son has enjoyed those since second grade. He's in fifth now

Forgot to add Jenga and Yahtzee. We've also enjoyed building jigsaw puzzles together.

Bingo, especially if you can find a version with little balls in a wire basket that you turn

Another Banagrams fan here.

And if there's room, children still like Twister.

Battle Sheep--it's a very fun strategy game that my 7 year old niece could play as well as her older elementary aged siblings and adults.

I would also add Gamewright Games to that list.

Our kids are 8 and 12.

We always take Uno when we travel. We also used to take Sleeping Queens but they are outgrowing that one.

Games we like to play together:
Blokus
Ticket to Ride
Ten Days in Europe
Catan Jr (about to get them regular Catan)
Sorry
Apples to Apples

Sorry for any repeats of above -- I scanned quickly and didn't see the following:

I see a shout out for Forbidden Island but not Forbidden Desert. We like both.

We also love Phase 10. It never gets put away -- someone is always playing.

Milles Borne

Rummikub

Rook

Pit

Guillotine (the premise is collecting nobles and others who are lined up to get guillotined during the French Revolution -- it sounds horrific but it's actually a great game)
