This ! I am a Black woman and dated a white European man for a long time. Nobody blinked at the sight of us in France, UK, Belgium, Netherlands, while we got stared at a lot in the US, especially in NYC, which you would think is a multicultural, cosmopolitan city ! |
PP here who asked the question. I wonder whether the reaction would be any different for an Arab/African couple. I'm actually not Arab, but have been mistaken for North African before during our last trip to Paris (many years ago). Spouse is from a sub-Saharan African country. Couple of us have Arabic names. Traveling with young kids this time so just wanted to ask the French PP. |
