The people who are actually desperate and have real economic reasons to vote for a slight glimmer of hope voted for Hillary.

The middle-class white folks who don't want to give up their privilege voted for Donald.

So West Virginians voted for Hillary? Nope. They voted Trump. And some middle class white folks who want to maintain their privilege also voted for Trump, and together, they had a large enough block to win the electoral college.

Point is, if you live in Arlington and you did vote for Trump, you did so not out of desperation, but for some other reason.

Yep, +1 here...I did it for the never-ending glee that I've been overcome with for the past two weeks. It's made life worth living again. Thanks, totes worth it.

Well, there's a police report. So it happened whether or not you get to see it.

Uh, it didn't happen at all like it was described in the OP. It wasn't in a lunchroom and no parent was involved in the physical fight. There's an allegation of a racial slur, but no evidence.

So, something happened. But certainly not what was described. It also sounds very personal -- an ongoing feud -- not some random case where a white dad spouted off hate speech at a random student.

Get a grip.

It involved two parents of one of the kids. Do any of you remember your parents getting involved with kids from your high school? Getting in their face?

It used to be embarrassing to have your parents show up anywhere near the school grounds.

Are the parents going to follow the child to college as well?? Helicopter central over at YHS.

Must have sent them an SOS on his iphone7. Mommy, Daddy---come quick!! Why else would they show up on campus in the middle of the day?

Direct from the article:

"But police say this was more than just a standard-issue fight between two students. It was the result of an “ongoing dispute” and it involved two parents of one of the students and allegations of racial slurs being used."

Shaking my head at the stupidity, particularly knowing most of it comes from the same W-L posters who spend the rest of their time on DCUM bragging about how expensive Lyon Village, etc. has become.

As every restaurant exits Clarendon. Now you are walkable to a UPS store, some banks, an AT&T store and the Cheesecake Factory. So glad you paid $2 million, right?

What were the parents doing there in the middle of the day?

So parents at YHS feel now free to spout off racial insults to students, and the excuse given is that it is somewhat acceptable because it was an ongoing feud?

Get a grip, PP.

Exactly. First, it was denial, denial, denial.

Now--that there is a report...that even mentions racial slurs they lash out at everyone else again.

If shit like this happened at my kid's school I'd want answers and I sure as hell wouldn't be circling the wagons and trying to cover-up.

The "report' is an arlnow story on this thread that you and I are currently posting in.

Mmm, now, it is a police report. So, yes, sorry to tell you, but it looks like it did happen.

Look at Arlington's voting results. Almost nobody voted for Donald.

We vote for John Vihstadt. We stand behind John when he works the levers of County policy to take down the affordable housing mafia. Attacking building height is one great method. Having a "once a year" process to give out the affordable housing money is another--so you don't have flexibility to take advantage of immediate opportunities.

John's a lawyer specializing in housing finance, both for-profit and non-profit. And he's a REALLY good one at that. So he's perfect to destroy the housing people while being pleasant enough to win the social liberals who form the majority of Arlington.

Again with this stuff Susan? You are the absolute worst troll, I mean social media "expert." I hope you're a volunteer and they're not actually paying you, especially not with AHIF $.

Hope the kid that experienced the hate crime has a secure copy of that video. He's out-numbered, out-$''d and out-powered. Loud-mouth dad will surely lawyer-up. In fact 10-1, he is a lawyer himself.

I'm, not arguing, that it didn't happen. Also, I don't believe, that I see, anything, in the arlnow story, about an actual police report, occurring.

Arlnow's story is simply a report of this thread + a phone call to APS + quotes from Ashley Savage.

So now we're talking real estate? Like this is some plot to influence real estate prices? Maybe if you had the amenities that attract today's buyers in your neighborhood you wouldn't have to worry about Lyon Village so much. I don't live anywhere near LV, but I have been around long enough and met enough real estate agents to know that it's not the LV or W-L parents who spend their time on DCUM or out in the real world bragging about where they live. Sorry you missed the LV boat. Just develop Lee Hwy and you, too, can have a walkable urban village for people under 50 to desire.

Not much to go on yet, but it's Arlington, so we definitely need 75 pages of comments just to make sure we've explored every possible angle.
