How old should a child be to swim with dolphins in Mexico?

You think that the chicken farmers who produce that factory chicken that you eat don't make a financial gain?

Farms are not owned by corporations, they are families doing what is necessary to support themselves. As opposed to a corporation who is ripping babies from their parents to line their pockets further.

OP what are you teaching your children by permitting them to swim with the dolphins??

Animals for food is one thing, animals for entertainment is another.

LOL WHAT?! Hello, Purdue, Tysons? Not owned by corporations? Wow. You're special.

Yeah seriously. Chicken producers in the US are major corporations for the most part. I come from a family of vegetarians, and I don't get the moral calisthenics involved in saying that eating a chicken that "is raised to be eaten" is somehow morally superior to taking a ride on a dolphin.

+1 You cannot seriously be this stupid.

Agree. Japan just slaughtered a POD yesterday after removing *the best* for tanks around the world.

My almost 10 year old has no desire to see dolphins in captivity. We did, however, take a boat out some ways in the ocean to observe them in their home - the OCEAN.

How so? My dog isn't any different than a cow or pig, same emotions. Idiot.

OP: watch The Cove on Netflix or Apple TV; you'll get the real scoop on dolphins and how they're chosen for tanks around the world, ripped from the pod and family members. After the selection process, the rest of the pod is slaughtered, thus turning the cove red from their blood. Really, you should watch it and then decide if you want to condone dolphins in captivity.

+1. People who think dolphins are so cute but who don't give a damn how they were captured and how they are treated are just amazing. Breathtaking.

+2. And it has nothing to do with eating animals. I eat meat too but I don't think any animal deserve that kind of treatment. And to take your kids? Disgusting.

And ignorant.

No, fully aware of the "horror". I just don't have large marine mammal outrage. Maybe I'm cold.

You're a selfish, self centered person. We don't know you but you have a lot to dislike with just one typed sentence from you. I'm sure your children are really nice, too.

You all can't be that stupid. Do you really think Perdue OWNS all those farms/chickens? No. Of course not. They purchase them and have purchasing agreements with thousands of small, independently owned farms. They specialize in the processing, they don't raise them.

So it's ok to slaughter an animal and eat its flesh, but not to train one in captivity?
Ok.

Meh. I eat animals. I guess that's worse.

+ 1. We took our 5 and 7 yr old and they loved it. The concern is whether your children will be afraid of the dolphins or not. Otherwise, nothing to worry about.

*nothing* to worry about?

i wouldn't say that - these are among the most intelligent creatures on earth, who are being basically tortured so your little kid can have a good time on vacation.
