Why can't parents use the kiss n ride lane properly?

Kiss n ride is way over used. If you need to get out of your car you need to park and walk in.

If everyone took 15 extra seconds, you are adding an extra minute for every four cars. It adds up pretty quick.

Patience is a virtue. You can wait.
Is that what you tell your boss because you're late to work after dealing with unnecessarily long car pool lanes?

I allow for extra time. Sounds like you should start doing the same.

The whole point of Kiss and Ride is you should not NEED to allow for extra time. If you have extra time, you can park and walk in. K&R is supposed to be quick and painless. Everyone clogging it up with their BS shenanigans is defeating the purpose of it. This just isn't hard. If Sally needs her tuba/a pat on the ass before she goes in/a prayer before walking in to school, park your car and do it there, not in carline.

I see it at our school every day too. Crazy ass moms getting out of the car to get their 9 year olds out of baby seats and taking their time while doing it. PARK YOUR CAR, PEOPLE.

OMG MY HEAD JUST EXPLODED WITH YOUR STUPIDITY.

Seriously? Install a different car seat just for school drop off?

my kid COULD unbuckle his harness in K, but his door was child locked because he had hypoglycemic rages and we couldn't anticipate his unsafe maneuvers when they came on quickly. And also, none of your business. I dashed out of my seat, opened his door, he dashed out, end of story.

CUT THE EFFING JUDGEMENT. Seriously. You do not know everyone else's story.

Wow You realize your kid is just following your example with the uncontrollable rages, right?

Do you have issues with road rage PP? I think th KnR is the least of your problems. Your poor child...

You can wait.

But does she have a crown? Only then can I understand the need to brush her hair at drop off. One must keep up appearances after all.

Our school has exactly a 10 minute window for kiss and ride. Only 5 cars can drop off at a time. Line has to go quickly or half the line could potentially be marked tardy.

I have learned to always be in the front of the line. When weather is not great, those people with the tuba or art project or SN kid who apparently needs to be coddled, really screw up the kiss and ride line and the back end of line all get marked tardy.

There's only 2 kinds of people - the quick and the dead. Courtesy is a virtue - move with a purpose, drop/pick up your kid and be on your way.

Holy shit.

I sat in a kiss and ride line for the first time yesterday to pick up my daughter from an after school activity. I was maybe...the 15th car in line. The activity ended at 4:45. I didn't get to my daughter until 5. 15 MINUTES to travel MAYBE fifty yards?!

As I pulled up, I finally realized what was holding up the line. Some mom who had gotten out and spent like five minutes buckling in her kid. I'm not sure why it took her so long but we didn't start moving until the teachers finally started waving cars to go around her.

I arrived home a little after five only to discover that the parents of two other children on our street (one who had parked and walked up to get their kid and one who was first in the K&R line) had been home for ten minutes already.

Lesson learned. Fuck the Kiss and Ride line. I'm parking next time. So much faster.

Then another K parent gets out of the car, has like a 3 min conversation with her child, waves to kid until kid walks in door. Worst parent was one who skips the entire kiss and ride lane, cuts to the exit of kiss and ride, blocks everyone trying to exit while blocking buses from getting to their entrance. Arrrrgh.

End vent.

I went thru kiss and ride today and got out of the car and opened my trunk and got out my kid's REALLY HEAVY PERCUSSION INSTRUMENT BAG that he needs for band. He cannot carry it on to the bus b/c it is too heavy, nor can he get it out of the car or trunk without help.

Why don't you mind your own business.

Stop using the freaking kiss and ride lane if you have to get crap out of your car. Park and take it out.

It's a safety issue. When using k&r the driver stays in the car, the student(s) exit from the passenger side and walk towards the school, not to the trunk, not around the car, but straight to the school. If you have special circumstances you PARK and deal with it. That's your problem to deal with.

The safety lock switch on every door I've seen in only accessible when the door is open. You have to open the door, and it's on the edge of the door panel.

There are 3 kids on your street in the same activity, and you couldn't figure out a carpool?

Nope. Not my problem, because I'm not lugging a tuba. I'm getting it out of the trunk. Too bad for you.

Nope. At my school you'd be shamed by the principal if you tried to pull that nonsense off. Nobody gets out but the students. If you did try you'd be stopped and scolded by the principal and everyone would laugh at your stupidity.
