Yes I think it is ok, news flash shit changes. The people in control and who are proactive typically turn out alright. I have little sympathy for people who just hoped stuff would happen. Besides it's delray, they are luckily they don't live next door to some flop house with 5 families cramed in it. |
+1 This guy, literally, moved the goalposts on his neighbors just to fuck with them. And a 1 foot setback is crazy in a SFH, non-rowhouse neighborhood. It's a terrible ruling and is going to wreak havoc with properties in Del Rey. Get this reversed before it irreparably harms the character of the neighborhood. Otherwise, you'll see A LOT more of this. This guy is an utter asshole, I can't believe anyone is defending him. You'd want your neighbor to put a massive cinderblock wall 1 foot from your window? |
Got it, you're also a big jerk. Ok. |
| I'm not defending asshat Nichols but didn't the Linehans have work done on their house? I know they switched the locations of the kitchen and the dining room but did this renovation push their new kitchen out to the edge of their property line further than when they bought it? So essentially encroaching on Nichols property line? I have no idea. Just know there has GOT to be more to this weird story |
| Ugh. Stuff like this makes me so thankful we live out in the country again. They say fences make good neighbors, but really ten or more acres makes good neighbors. |
No, I don't think they built bigger. It just sounds like they did a room switch and updated the kitchen in the process. This guy is a psycho architect who is butthurt that homeowners didn't maintain his "vision" and hired someone else to renovate their house. He's a huge POS. |
|
Still, they bought a house that sits 3 feet from the property line. They have no standing.
My SIL's new neighbors bought a tear down next door and bilt to within 6 feet of the property line. Her house is offset a lot more than that, but the simple fact that the house next door is so close blocks the sun. Not a think she can do about it. |
| This is why I live on 6 acres. |
+1 |
Right. But it isn't like the bought a house and then the property line moved. They bought it knowing full well it was on the line. Even a 6 ft. set back is still really close if your house sits so close to your own property line. |
Yeah, but there are traditional standards for sfh neighborhoods. His property already has 2 buildings on it. It's shocking that he would be permitted to build a second accessory dwelling on such little acreage. I live in Arlington and the set backs are 10 feet ( I believe) because I just put a detached garage at the back of my property. I also spoke to my neighbors first. The offended neighbors unfortunately have a badly positioned home. It looks like a stovepipe kind of set up. That is never good. Never buy a home situated around a stovepipe. Oh course the asshole architect designed it, so... His original "vision" sucked. |
Rather be a jerk than a victim. Sounds like your menopause is flairing up again, you should do something about that. |
Hi Donald, didn't know you browsed DCUM! |
Wow. This explains a lot. Does this sum up many people? Wow. What a narrow, immature, ignorant and unenlightened view on life. |
I guess we'll see who is the victim. There are lawyers involved now. He can build it now, but he might be tearing it down later. |
