Bet you couldn't hire him in a million years.

I don't think he relies on neighborhood business - likely a non issue.

A simple google search would reveal you are wrong.

How the hell is it even possible he is relying on that neighborhood, if the man moved his business out of state?

It could potentially be that his business is based out of state for legal and tax reasons. The same reason thousands of businesses are incorporated in Delaware every year.

My guess is that Mr. Nichols is preparing to leave the area and become an absentee landlord. He's going to build out the new cinder block building as an other unit of housing, thus maximizing his extraction from the neighborhood.

Gentrification is marching our way and I'm afraid this scenario will play out in some form in my neighborhood (although the appreciation to date is nice). A few us are discussing pushing back hard if people start pushing for exemptions on their plans for additions/tear downs.

That's your right, but if you are not in a HOA, what can be built 'by right' is pretty much anything that's with the code. And if it's by right, you have no say. If you do not like that, you should move to an HOA.

What an arrogant jerk. He looks like a heart attack or stroke waiting to happen.

A look at his Houzz profile reveals numerous projects in his neighborhood.

This. I understand that old house owners are upset by new builds, but they have no rights that magically appear when this happens. I think that is why the sour grapes. In fact, the people you call to complain to on the phone are often new house owners themselves. LOL.

Google tells me that his only business is in his neighborhood? No. No, it does not. If Google answered everything, you might be able to tie your own shoes.

NP. Why does it even matter? Everyone from anywhere can and will google him before hiring him, and I think most people who are not of the Trumpian mindset will be very turned off by reading about this story. He would have to offer truly exceptional services for people to decide to work with a vindictive jerk.

There are other issues here you fail to address. I ma not saying he is right, but the other side is not entirely right, either. Time will tell.

No way would I be interested in working with someone that had that sort bad press. I don't care what the other side might be. There is no need to tangle with sort of person. I'll look elsewhere.

Sounds like a volatile, vindictive jerk. Glad he's leaving the area.

What issues should I address? All I'm saying is that in terms of publicity, it really doesn't matter who is right legally. The point is that he is acting extremely selfishly and without regard for the interests of others, and what's worse, appears to be doing so out of spite. The vast majority of posters here have agreed with this view, and so will many potential clients.

Wasn't the yelp eventually taken down? It would be easy for the builder to counter (or legally pursue) any attacks.
