The Queen, by all accounts, is a very astute woman.
She has been Queen of the UK longer than most of us have been alive. She was a young woman when the UK fought in WWII. She was there when the Common Market was introduced. She was there when Britain voted to join the Common Market. She has watched the Common Market evolve into a very different EU. She has stayed on top of British politics since the 1950s. She has met more heads of states and premiers than any one else. She knows fully well what almost happened in 2014. She is not an ignorant woman.

| I am in England now and have been in 3 cities sense brexit listening to the locals in pups, there is not the uproar from the "common man" as the media would have you believe. Even those who voted yo stay seem to be taking a measured approach recognizing there will be market fluctuations that will eventually stabilize as will everything else over time. It has been interesting to observe the maturity with with those for and against have been interacting. |
| Look The UK will carry on. People are acting like the UK has been invade by zombies. |
Well the good news is that once the zombies starve to death, EU forces can take back what's left of England. |
This. There is a lot of spin going on. It will take time, but the UK and the rest of Europe will adjust. |
But there won't be a "U.K." Scotland will definitely vote to split and Northern Ireland given the chance might also. Oddly, those latter two will be in the EU. |
Irrelevant. |
Not so odd, because if they vote for independence within 2 years they will technically never have left the EU in the first place. |
| Other countries will also leave the EU. Just watch. |
Short lifetime. Also, how does the argument change? Scotland already determined they were better off staying. All the reasons then are the same now -- there's no new good reason for Scotland to leave the UK. |
+1 |
So England and Wales will be what's left of the old UK. |
Uh, something changed -- Brexit. But, I don't think the UK will actually carry through with Brexit. |
