Typical Potomac student?

Potomac kids have too much homework and sport requirements to hang out outside of school.. unless you count the drug and alcohol parties that are necessary to deal with the overwhelming amount of work. -P Parent

We were new to Potomac last year-parents were 100% welcoming. In any school you find your people. But you have to make an effort-show up to stuff..volunteer. You cant just expect it to happen woth no effort from you. There is a lot of wealth at the school but there are just as many normal/non rich people and lots of staff /teacher families too.

It is what you make of it...

No different than any other independent...

I read only 17 percent of students get Financial Aid. Seems a little lower than other area Privates who I understand are closer to 25 percent. On the other hand, I have also heard that the Trump for President chapter is quite large. Ironic because the Democratic Senator and the Democratic Governor, each of Virginia, sent their kids there.

As a Potomac parent, I know only three parents who support Trump publicly.

PP here. It is sweet in that you have kids that would objectively be considered to be somewhat dorky/bookworms feeling like they are fully a part of the school and the social scene and not excluded. Hard to describe until you (or your kid) has lived it but it is really nice. Honestly this is to many of us one of the main arguments for being a lifer at a K-12 school.

Huh. Where I live there is no assumption that "dorky/bookworm" kids would not feel fully part of a school. But it's not a competitive private school.

Not at Potomac, but know exactly what you mean. One of the nicer parts of private school life.
