School bus at intersection question

There is no harm in stopping when you are supposed to stop. In fact, you are supposed to stop. However, there is a harm in stopping when you are NOT supposed to stop (e.g, if you are going in the opposite direction of a bus on the other side of a divided median) because the driver behind you is not expecting you to do that. Yes, that driver is supposed to be going slowly enough to allow him to also stop if the car in front of him (you) does something erratic like stopping without warning when it's not required, but the point is that there are laws for a reason. Don't just make up your own stuff, follow them. Your question is a bit like someone saying, what's wrong with going very slowly on the highway because slower is always safer. No, it's not. The laws are there so everyone has an expectation of what everyone else is going to do.

There is a stop sign only where you can turn right/left onto the other. If the school bus on the more “main” two way street pulls through the intersection and stops to drop off students and I am following behind, can I legally turn right onto the side street that is now behind the back of the bus?

Why? Just stop and wait until the bus moves.

No, you cannot. You must stop, even if you were not intending to pass the bus.

I know someone who got a ticket for this OP. You have to stop... until the bus goes. The idea is probably that kids could be running to catch the bus from any direction.

In this case I'm wondering how far behind a bus do you have to be to make it ok to make a turn behind a bus? As I think about it, it does make sense that you'd be able to turn onto a street or into a driveway if you are not in front of the bus.

Tickets in MoCo are $500. So if the guy behind you is honking, are you willing to pay the $500 fine to get him to stop honking.

Can there be a school bus stop in front of your driveway With no sidewalks? They literally stand in my driveway, which cuts down us, trying to get our car in the driveway early from our driveway

This - I asked my law enforcement husband and he said that you stop in all directions EXCEPT when going in the opposite direction and their is a median dividing the lane.

OP, you were in the wrong to go.
