I stopped cleaning up the house and haven't had a single fight with DH

OP, if you're a "scrubbing person" and your dh is not, why would you expect him to do as he's told? If you think it needs to be cleaned and he does not, bitching at him to do it seems pointless and needlessly combative. If you want every surface scoured every weekend, do it yourself or hire someone.

I straighten my house. I pay someone to clean, aka scrub.

If you can't fight the battle, join them. This has been my new mantra with other things, particularly food and health, and I'm a lot less stressed.
