Anonymous wrote:For names unique to DC, I know a Rhodes for Rhode Island Avenue (where the parents married). We almost named our son Penn as we had our first date, got engaged and married on Penn. If we have a girl, we plan on naming her Mary Virginia for DC, which is my grandma's name. Yes, we are Catholic and Southern. I have friends who met playing kickball in Adams Morgan. Their kids are Millie and Nolan after two bars where they met playing kickball. I also have friends that met in the Senate as staffers whose twin girls are Kennedy and Kerry for their bosses. I have other friends who met in Georgetown in a running group and their daughter is Georgia and a friend that met on the bus on M street whose daughter is Emma.

I know a Montana, December, Brimmer and a Tiverton - all names of places relating to where/when they were born or conceived.

Anonymous wrote:Well waverly has been listed 3 times even without the double posting, so there goes that name as being unique

Not if they're all talking about the same Waverly

Simmer down Waverly's mom. It's still special

Anonymous wrote:Not too many super unique (in that I haven't heard them before) but overlap isn't as common as people think. Except for Henry. I know 5 little Henrys. Other than that, there's no more than 2 of each name. Honestly a name that's popular isn't that bad. All those Henrys seem just fine to me.

These are kids age 6 and under though.

Trust me, as someone with a popular name, it sucks to be "Popularname Lastinitial" your whole life. Those Henrys are going to be "Henry C." "Henry K." "Henry S." until they die.

Really? I'm a 1980s Jessica and it never bothered me.

I know some Zanes. I love Juniper. Love it. Even if it's trendy.

I wasn't brave enough for clover as a first name, but we considered it as a middle name for our second who was a happy surprise after many years of secondary infertility. I think it's adorable.

I dated a lennon in hs. He was a player, but cute.
